Again, how is what happened to Otherworld "colonialism"? The Braddocks (whose family is from Otherworld) replaced Morgan le Fey, who isn't Otherworld, because she was actively trying to kill them all.

After that happened, guess how many Krakoan mutants moved to Otherworld? One!

I feel like "don't terraform inhabited planets" is a bare minimum for ethical behavior.

It's a little disappointing that, afaik, this short in a special issue, not written by any of the talent actually involved in the X-Office, is the first time we're seeming the manifest destiny subtext (though is it even subtext, given how Magneto talked about it?) of the terraforming plotline being explicitly addressed, but I'm still glad to see it.

I'd like to see more of this conscientiousness brought to the main X-books, tbh.

I agree - and it's been a thing for Magneto for a long time, so very much in character for him, but there are plenty of mutants who should be pushing back like Risque is here.

I gotta say, Risque is not a character I ever expected to see get a solo story at all. She existed for like 5 minutes in the '90s before being killed off in the Morrison era.

This issue does a lot of deep cutting to find Latinx characters to showcase. Miles appears in two stories, one in his 'current' costume and one in his good one, and both White Tiger stories pretty much have the same beats and message.

Literally the same day they terraformed Mars, Hank McCoy was severely reprimanded for mind-controlling the population of a small country after claiming his goals were "ultimately altruistic".

Krakoa is capable of very bad things.

Hours before then, Monet remarks how likes what she has to hear from known monster and central neo-nazi figurehead Selene and lets her in on X-Corp before going outside to join in Quentin Quire’s torturing the Strucker twins so she can dismiss them for being neo-nazis. Elsewhere, OG nazi Mister Sinister is sipping martinis.

This is nice enough, but I don’t think this is necessarily indicative of anything since non-X books tend to whitewash (as in downplay the problematic parts of) Krakoa and the current status quo.

There is nothing "Problematic" about what Krakoa is doing here. Terraforming only lifeless worlds so an oppressed and persecuted minority have a safe place to live is literally as far from "problematic" as you can get

This makes me wonder... how much survey work did they do on Mars before they terraformed it? My wiki research suggests there aren't any current native species on Mars (most of the Martians encountered thus far have either been using it as a base or not actually from Mars) in the Marvel universe but did they make sure there were no hidden civilizations or unusual and hard to detect existing life beforehand?

I do wonder what the other non-terran species in the Sol System think of Kraokoa declaring Mars the capital of the system. As I recall, a few races call Venus home, I think the Titan Eternals are still around (some of them, anyway) and there's a race of beings Doctor Druid dealt with on one of Saturn's moons. And at least one, if not two, versions of "Counter Earth" are floating about.

Y'all are talking about colonialism on the Otherwold situation when Imperialism would be the more apropriate term, just saying.

I was actually coming here to say this.

This does not necessarily improve the situation and the ven diagram between colonialism and imperialism often overlaps, but it is a different discussion.

Imperialism is also what's occuring on Mars in a broader sense. And in X-force. It's not good! I need to write a longer post about what it all means, but I think I need to wait for Inferno to finish up before locking down a position.
