I absolutely hate that Cassandra Nova will be joining the Marauders. She's not "one of the most infamous villains in mutant history", she's their equivalent of fucking Hitler.
I was very excited for Orlando's Marauders but this was definetely a cold shower.

It sounds like it's going to be like Darkseid in Justice League Odyssey. She's not a member of the crew but more a case of the crew are having to keep her around because she knows something they need to know

I hope that as soon as possible they'll just put an end to her. Since she's not a mutant and not a human either she won't be brought back and there's no law against them just feeding her to the sharks because you are right she is one of the single most evil beings in the X-books. She's worse than William Stryker and it really takes some doing to be worse than the guy who set a busload of kids on fire

nova on a sub-team is absolutely in line with the current status quo (apocalypse on the quiet council, for example), so...idk. At least orlando's a fun writer

Maybe it's the lack of Al Ewing, but this month looks even worse than the previous one to me.

More of my less favorite characters: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Carnage, classic Venom.

Immortal X-Men has one of the worst line-ups I've seen. When are they going to get rid of all those old faces?

Marauders' line up is way more interesting, but Cassie is a big WTF. Even if they don't draw the line at genocide anymore (since Genosha mutants can be resurrected), I don't see Kate teaming up with the woman behind her father's death.

So many Member Berries titles: Patch, Ben Reilly, Silver Surfer, Venom... I guess it's good that they are willing to give jobs to senior writers who can't or don't want to write stories in current continuity, but I'm always worried to see so much nostalgia pandering.

Those Miles and Gwen AU look like the worst What If concepts ever.

Clea as new Sorcerer Supreme is interesting. She is a character who has been relagated to short cameos since... the 80s maybe? So it's nice that she gets some spotlights, and with a writer who tells good stories and seems to know his continuity-fu.

More Reckoning War sollicits, and still no mention of Gauntlet or Southpaw or Armory. Sigh...

I am so excited for Immortal X-Men

It stars some of my favorite characters of all time like Emma, Kate, Mystique, Destiny and Storm and I love Gillen's writing so I think this will definitely be my kind of thing. This and Marauders are the two X-books I'm most excited for in the new year but I'm also thrilled for Knights of X and X-men Red when those come out!

I'm just saying...in at least one of Moira X's lives Sinister betrayed mutantkind to the human/machine alliance and now there's this motherfucker whose obsessed with mad science and immortality who is wearing what looks a LOT like one of Sinister's outfits and this seems Sus to me

I mean there was that whole thing where Magneto and Xavier went to recruit Sinister and he wasn't really into it, and then his clone with extra bonus X-gene killed him and was like "Yeah, Krakoa. Science!"

So even if Krakoan!Sinister is on the up-and-up (well, relatively speaking) there could definitely be some spare pre-Krakoan Sinister clones with their own agendas running around.

Us getting Mystique and Destiny as a couple in an ongoing comic is basically the best possible news for me to be starting the new year with so I love this. It's about time Raven got her wife back and I hope that Gillen's going to do a great job writing them

And I loved how he wrote Emma and I hope he'll have her and Kate maintain the beautiful level of "They are absolutely fucking each other's brains out with sheet drenching kinky lesbian sex every single night" energy they had when Duggan was writing them

I'm surprised Nimrod is still around post Inferno but if the plotline is going to run longer maybe that means more chance for Omega Sentinel to be saved from being controlled by her evil future self

Who seems to have travelled from an era where the 90's just kept going based on her having not one but two robot arms that are also giant guns

They're obstacles to be overcome. Not given quippy lines. If every panel Cassandra Nova is in doesn't involve someone punching her in the face? The comic is being written incorrectly.

Cassandra works best with a limited screentime where she gets to be absolutely creepy and despicable. Nothing else is appropriate for such a character.
(and other than Morrison themself I don't think anybody ever managed to make her genuinely creepy. Maybe Whedon, but even then we still had fresh memories from the Morrison run)

If Gillen doesn't reference the fact that 'Sinister' originally meant 'Left-Handed' and this is mildly amusing considering Nathaniel Essex is a creepy eugenicist, I will be very surprised.

But given what happened to Druig lately...I'll be surprised if Sinister makes it out of this run in one piece.

Oh, and although that's obviously a Last Supper tableau, I should note that the empty seat with the Phoenix is verrry reminiscent of the Siege Perilous of Arthurian myth, only to be sat on by "The One True Knight Not Yet Born".

Though the nitpicker in me wonders about the logic of redesigning her outfit.
Steve's managed to wear essentially the same set of clothes for about eighty years now.
(And from the sound of it, it's not just "Peggy in a cut-and-paste of Steve's adventures."
On the one hand, good. On the other, shame.
I'll just have to imagine what Peggy and Diamondback working together looks like...)
