"I think when Reign Of X is in the rearview, it will be regarded as both a major expansion of mutantdom in the Marvel Universe and of the line at your comic shop." - Gerry Duggan
I think you are thinking of Zandia in the DC universe. Madripoor is a normal country. Its government is very corrupt but if a countries government being corrupt meant it couldn't join the UN that would prevent ANY country joining it
Yeah. Nicieza must be rolling in his... err, bed I guess. (Yes, I know Busiek started the whole thing rolling, but, imho, Nicieza's 'bolts is where he really shined.)
They didn’t fix Chamber’s jaw when he came back and they still haven’t come up with a homunculus to stick No-Girl into. They’d probably call his heart problems part of his mutant identity or something.
Always happy to see Fin Fang Foom. Although, he did seem a bit ooc. Calling Iceman a frost giant? I could almost imagine it is Jormungandr in disguise again if it wasn't for the events of Thor's own title.
Loved Shinobi's confusion when Leland hugged him. What, actual human contact from my father figure?! Does not compute!
Easy out: this is another Beyond Corp. clone of Fin Fang Foom now that their stock is up again. They've finally managed to control for the "tendency to put mutants in his pants" DNA variant.
I could almost imagine it is Jormungandr in disguise again
Man, that was a great issue of Thor... Also, that was what I was wondering; does somebody at Marvel think Fin Fang Foom is an Asgardian monster instead of an ancient space alien with magic rings and metamorphic abilities who crash landed in China (man, comics are weird sometimes...)?
I might be missing context here, but it looks like Fin Fang Foom came to their boat looking for a drink and they just beat on him?
Couldn't they have, I dunno, gotten Alchemy to make him a lake full of booze?
(I can't imagine Alchemy, given his powers, wasn't at the top of the bring back to life queue. He'd be way too useful).
Side note: Leland's an odd choice for ambassador considering his greatest accomplishment in life seems to have been befriending Shaw. He wasn't particularly successful as a lawyer. Also, he has a habit of hitting on teenagers so he's a Me Too event waiting to happen.
That in itself is a good reason he wouldn't be able to convert water into whiskey. I mean, whiskey requires not only the proper ingredients, it needs to be aged properly in the right conditions. So he'd have to simulate the aging process to boot.
How about some wine? That's pretty easy compared to whisky.
It's a very tricky thing, if I recall correctly. Alchemy can't just turn water into whiskey. His power work on the molecular level. So he'd need to know the exact make up of each ingredient. And it has to be aged, surely.
Also, if I remember right, this is the same kid who turned Wolverine's claws to rubber once. I don't know WHY Wolverine was trying to stab him. I think the kid was being used by trolls for something.
Sadly, this mutant was also a fatality of the M-Pox. He was flown into the cloud in the hopes of being able to alter it. Didn't work. Twice. The first time, he was dropped and broke his arm. Alchemy never wanted to be an X-Man. He was no hero. He just wanted to live a normal, non-costumed life. And Emma had her fake Cyclops projection belittle him over his broken arm.
I suspect the aging would be sort of irrelevant, as Alchemy could create the chemical composition of aged booze just as easily as new booze, it's just a different set of molecules, and probably a few more complex esters in there, He's just need to get his head around what the molecular composition and balance of each compound was.
And yes, Alchemy was a mutant who had no interest to be an active superhero, but whose courage should have put him near the front of any decent resurrection queue.
"I suspect the aging would be sort of irrelevant, as Alchemy could create the chemical composition of aged booze just as easily as new booze"
You'd *think* so, but there's a certain je ne said quoi to aged scotch that transcends the mere chemistry; it's why you need Tempus to really get the right stuff....
Speaking of which, I do like a good Ardbeg, so I was intrigued by their Wee Beastie, a merely 5-year aged scotch. Turns out that while it's a really decent Ardbeg, it has a certain... unfinished quality to it that belies the aging. Who knew?
Really, really liked this. We should have had way more issues that dealt with ressurections in this manner.
-Harry is clearly both younger and fitter than when he died, so while still hefty, the ressurection has actually done some of what it promised.
-The fact that he remember dying indicates that he dies during a backup process. Which explains why he needed more TP and a gentler intoduction that most ressurected.
-Bringing him back reveals new sides to Shaw, and moves Shinobis character forwards. As I remember he was remarking to Shaw before how his powers were more like "Uncle Harrys" than Shaws.
I appreciate that Pyro, with his background as a writer of torrid romance novels, is now apparently in charge of filling in backstories for resurrected mutants.
Jay and Miles have an ongoing gag that, based on the number of times he shows up in the 90's lounging around in a communal bathtub or with a co-ed harem in a barely existent robe, Shinobi is convinced that he's a super-cool ladies man who knows all about sex, but is just too embarassed to actually admit that he hasn't got a clue and keeps hoping someone will explain it to him.
Hold up, what barbarian that Logan wanted to give board to in the New York club? Does she mean a literal barbarian? Like Conan? Did Emma just boot Conan to the curb? The guy who said to Doctor Doom, "So you wear that mask because you're ugly and vain, huh?" and lived to tell about it?
...does the ambassador of the United Kingdom often wear a cape?
I feel like Fin Fang Foom didn't deserve that. Yeah, he was going to steal their whisky, but his poor face...
I believe that is the implication. That is the sort of thing Emma Frost would do, I think we saw that in an issue of Savage Avengers.
The U.K. ambassador is part of Coven Akkaba, a splinter of Apocalypse’s old guard and worship Morgan le Fay. He’s a would be magician, so the cape is a necessity for style and so we know he’s EEEEVIIIILLLL
I feel like if the X-Men stormed a random boat demanding alcohol, the narrative would paint them as in the right. But in their defence here, Fin Fang Foom was being a bit of a drunken meanie.

Edit:
Also, Emma, you have a country now. Doesn't insurance fraud seem a little petty?
Also, also, is that Donald Pierce at the UN? Who's he representing? Is there a Racist Cyborg country now?

It's cool getting to see Iceman showing off just how much he can do with his powers here. Plus it's always fun to see Fin Fang Foom show up :)
Let Emma have a lil insurance fraud, as a treat
