It's especially hilarious coming from Juggernaut who spent 90% of his life trying to murder Charles and Deadpool who was trying to kidnap a mutant girl in this very story. Gee, can't imagine why Krakoa's government doesn't want you people living there

Juggernaut and Deadpool have never been part of the mutant community. And pretty sure most of the times Wade helped them out it was either because a friend of his was involved, he was getting paid or getting some kind of quid pro quo situation. He's the merc with the mouth. The clue is in the name. He works for a payday

They aren't owed jackshit just because they share a relative. Blood relation is utterly meaningless. I despise/don't give a shit about the vast majority of my blood relatives

I don't hate Deadpool or anything. I think he's a fun hero and I enjoy reading about his antics. But I can't think of anything he's done that singles him out as some super special mutant ally who has done SO MUCH for the cause of mutant rights/freedom

And even if he had....being an ally doesn't earn you special treatment. Nor should it.

So I know that Austen's run on X-men is not... well regarded, but one thing I did enjoy from it was the friendship between Cain and Sammy the Fish Boy. And now...

So...why aren't all the mutants dead? The Warden seems to have won pretty fast. Why isn't he using a lethal toxin instead of something that puts them to sleep, then killing the ones tough enough to survive the poisoning? Why not kill the island? This guy isn't very good at this.

Cable once had his own island, called Providence, in the CABLE AND DEADPOOL series. Deadpool was allowed to live on it.

Yeah, but the whole point of Providence was to give Earth an enemy. Cable wanted the world to unite against him. Then Silver Surfer showed up and just wrecked him. Didn't say anything for the longest time, just wailed on him.

I always loved that bit. Showing that no matter how Godlike Cable was (and he was frickin' powerful) the Power Cosmic is on another level altogether.

It really is interesting how Deadpool is part of the X-Franchise in every way that matters, but still fails to qualify on a genetic technicality.
I mean, he's served on multiple mutant teams, aided them countless times, and, while not 100% reliable or dependable, is still a known and friendly quantity.

Is he annoying as fuck? Yes. But that can be said about a number of others.
Has he done bad things? Yeah. But so have a lot of others.
Has he done bad things TO MUTANTS? Yeah, but...

Wade is no worse than the members of the Hellfire Club, the Nasty Boys, the MLF, the Marauders, Selene, Empath, Sinister, Apocalypse, the Acolytes, Sabretooth, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants--all of whom got a free pass just for having the right genetic sequence, all of whom had their old sins and crimes and atrocities swept aside in this new era. Hell, given that Shaw financed actual mutant-killing robots, the Marauders massacred hundreds of mutants, and Cassandra Nova killed -millions-, Deadpool is practically a teddy bear by comparison.

And still, the technicality whereupon some people are excluded because they fail at a certain criteria.

Some people want to make this an LGBTQ metaphor.
I say it strikes me more as an Israel metaphor. A minority population, persecuted and nearly exterminated time and again, finally carve out a homeland for themselves, only to still be beset by enemies on all sides. Mired in conflict and controversy, and forced to defend themselves in an aggressive manner, because to do anything less would be a show of weakness they can't afford. And even though their goal is worthy, their intentions honest, sometimes their leadership is dubious as fuck.

(I know this isn't a new or innovative view, but that's what the current status quo really says to me at the moment.)

The problem is that mutants have always defined themselves as a species by their genetic nature, and almost never as a culture with distinctive customs, traditions, language, cultural markers, or even history--they remain individuals almost entirely shaped by their places of origin, and lesser so by their affiliations (whereupon X-Men, Morlocks, etc feel like gangs or societies into which one is inducted rather than born). The introduction of a Krakoan language or "traditions" like the Sex Grotto and Death Pit are too new to feel like an organic component of the society. Meanwhile, an American mutant on Krakoa is still American, a Russian mutant is Russian, and they haven't yet developed a cohesive Krakoan identity.

Now, if Krakoa exists long enough, you'll eventually have a generation that was born on, grew up in, and develops a true Krakoan culture... and -that- will be interesting.

Not perhaps every single thing Israel's government has ever done. I don't support everything that any government, real or fictional, has done. But I certainly support Israel's existence
