I'd almost forgetten he'd gone off with the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Endgame... Hopefully that's a brief cameo (Star Lord just gets on my nerves)
So the Greek/Roman pantheon is showing up too. Interesting.
I don't have any sense of what this movie is going to be about, which I suppose is okay for a teaser, rather than a trailer.
Still bitter that they made Jane a movie "astrophysicist" instead of a doctor in a poor people's clinic, which might have taught "Donald Blake" true humility. If we don't get Mr. Horse as a Tony Benn era shop steward, we riot.

So much to love from him working out to Valkryie's "I am SO over this job" attitude leading New Asgard.
And loving the crow eaten by the folks a couple years back on "Portman is way too skinny to be believable" ignoring how just maybe an actress can pack on some muscle working out.
I'm that weirdo who actually LIKED the first two Thor movies -- not perfect, but I'd argue they've got more going for them than their rep would suggest. (I haven't seen THE DARK WORLD in a while, in fairness.) And RAGNAROK is ... my least favorite Thor movie?
There's so much awesome stuff in it -- all the Sakaar parts, where Waititi is engaged and having a blast, works like gangbusters. Problem is, it's smashed onto the story Marvel wanted to tell about Ragnarok and the destruction of Asgard, and aside from using the utterly fabulous Cate Blanchett's Hela as a way to critique colonialism, Waititi seems like he could not possibly care less about that part of the story.
The sullen boredom with which he zips through the Asgard stuff as indifferently as possible, wolfing down his vegetables to get to the dessert of the Sakaar stuff, just brings RAGNAROK down for me. Especially since so many of his other films -- WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS and HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE in particular -- make it a point to have real interest and affection for every single major character.
The fault mostly lies with Marvel for insisting that the movie get from point A to point B, but the way it's done in RAGNAROK -- when, as movies like ENDGAME and NO WAY HOME prove, you CAN still make a thoroughly good and entertaining movie even when faced with those seemingly impossible franchise demands -- just rubbed me the wrong way.
All of which is to say, now that this seems like 100% Waititi's movie, rather than having stuff foisted upon him that he didn't care about, I'm very much looking forward to seeing this film.
I liked the first Thor film as well. It was funny but knew when to take itself seriously as opposed to treating everything like a farce like Ragnarok did.
It seems that between Dark World and Ragnarok everyone at the MCU decided to just replace Thor's personality with that of Marvel's Hercules, I.E. the dumb, fun-loving god. Having him pal'ing around with the GotG as well is just an extra interesting coincidence.
I never got the sense that Waititi didn't care about the Asgard stuff but rather that the movie had a lot of ground to cover like a lot of the Marvel movies of this segment of the Marvel films
You could probably make two really good movies out of it instead of one good movie with two competing plots but the same could be said of a few movies of this Marvel phase
I really hope Jane doesn't make the argument that she needs to believe mortal medicine will work on her despite knowing that turning into The Mighty Thor erases the chemo.
I also had a theory about this films plot, but that was before learning Zeus is a cameo. He was an important part of it, so that theory is right out the window.
My theory is Jane and Thor split because she found out she had cancer and decided to end things because she didn’t want him to get hurt — only for him to face the double whammy that was Hela and Thanos.
It will suck soo much. I hate how they drastically changed the tone between Thor 2 and 3 and this is just doubling down on that. I hate most superhero movies, but I hold a special hatred for Thor in my heart because I actually enjoyed the shakespearean drama of the first movie and the romance focus of the second.
I wonder if they're going to have Jane Thor work differently considering that MCU Mjolnir is a very different hammer to 616 Mjolnir. Like that was a major point in Ragnarok, that the hammer was nothing more than a focus for the power that is in Thor, implying that it is just a hunk of metal with a few nifty enchantments without him.
The first movie showed Odin applying the "...shall possess the power of Thor" enchantment on it, and we saw Steve summon lightning with it in Endgame, so it remains to be seen how it will work.
