In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

I hope that those who had a long weekend enjoyed same and for those who celebrated religious festivals, be it Easter, Passover or Ramadan such observances were pleasant (and will continue to be so for Ramadan)

Doctor Who: The Legend of the Sea-Devils arrived and, well, it LOOKED good, and the Doctor/Yasmin relationship was finally addressed, but I don't think the story made a lot of sense and the celebrity historical aspect was sort of lost by having Madame Ching do pretty much nothing at all, and play second fiddle to fictional pirate Ji-Hun. Rumours abound that there was a LOT of things cut from this episode, which seems plausible given some oddly edited scenes, it only having a 47 minute runtime (when one might have expected an hour at least for a "special") and how things like the sea monster (not a Myrka, alas) just... disappeared from proceedings without comment. It was cromulent enough, but didn't quite shiver my timers.

A lot has happened this week and I fear the future more than ever before. The battle of Donbas started yesterday, and thus far it doesn’t go well for the Ukrainians. Furthermore, it doesn’t mean other parts of the country have a moment of respite. Lviv is no longer a relatively-safe city. On Monday, hypersonic missiles fell on vehicle service station and main railway station, killing at least seven people including a child. I lost contact with my family members in Lviv, and I hope it is just because they have phone problems. In the midst of the war happening beyond our eastern border, there are several very worrying things happening in Poland:
• There’s a bill that if passed would strengthen the existing protection of religious sensibilities law to an absurd degree, prohibiting what amounts to any criticism of catholic church (technically all recognized religious groups, but we all know it won’t work that for others, given that a few years ago a protestant pastor was arrested for organizing a mass as part of pride parade events, which some catholics saw as sacrilegious). It is meant to silence the opposition and indignation after the mass scale of child sexual abuse by priests and catholic institutions in Poland started to be shown light on. In a darkly humorous way, if the law passes, priestly child abusers won’t find themselves punished for their crimes, but their victims will find themselves in jail if they talk about them – perhaps alongside doctors and activists providing abortion pills, as first such trial started this week.
• Another bill meant to to strangle civil society is one that if passed will demand for non-governmental organizations to disclose full list of all donors and the sum of the money they donated if their income passes a certain amount a year. This would not only add another level of bureaucracy that would eat out the power of the orgs, but also the demand of transparency would be dangerous to donors themselves – ‘Oh look, Kowalska regularly donates to this horse charity, she must be rich, let’s break into her flat;’ ‘Oh look, Nowak donated to this queer org, he must be a faggot, let’s beat him up’ etc.
• The national ban on importing Russian natural resources into Poland and nationalizing properties of Russian Federation located in Poland did not pass even though all of opposition and a large part of the government alliance was in favour, because the government demanded change of constitution as the only way they’d agree. We ended up with shit, as usual.
• Sky over Poland will likely be closed by the end of April. The situation is too complex to describe here, but as a result the airlines will be hit hard. Polish destinations are being served almost exclusively by either flag carrier LOT or ultra low cost carriers like Ryanair or Wizz Air, for whom the closure of fourth major European destination may prove fatal, adding to the already existing recession.
• Today is the 79th anniversary of Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. If you are unfamiliar with it, please take a minute to read the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw_Ghetto_Uprising For a few days, presenters of TVN stations (the group of channels Polish government wanted to close) have been wearing origami daffondils as a symbol of the memory (these were flowers Marek Edelman was giving his fallen friends on each anniversary of the tragedy). Also today the Polin Museum of Polish Jews premieres the play “Mama zawsze wraca” (‘Mom always returns’), an adaptation of a children’s book telling the true story of a little girl whose mother hid her in the cellar to protect her in the ghetto. The book is heartbreaking, and the adaptation utilizes light and shadow art to portray the events in a beautiful and experimental way.
Worth noting that if media were all nationalized people wouldn’t know about any of this, as national media presents all these issues the way Fox News presents ‘Don’t Say Gay’ and similar bills.
I can’t help but feel a growing resentment toward closeted gay men due to this very long chain of events. The men involved in creating the laws that hurts women, queer people, non-catholics, environment and civil society are in large part known to be gay men, having male lovers, hiring male sex workers, frequenting the few gay bars existing in Poland, in some cases known to have been sexually abusing men, or male youths and children, and doing all they can to hurt the majority of Poles and Poland itself. It’s not even like when saint Peter rejected Jesus when he feared for his life, it’s like all those government officials in Western Europe who willingly collaborated with nazi occupants, sending their own fellow citizens to be tortured and killed. I understand saint Peters of modern world, but I hate gay Quislings and Petains.
The renovation of my flat is about halfway finished, but the shitty workers my mother hired did not protect my books and they are all dusty. I’ll have to see how can I safe them. At least the flat no longer looks as if it was hit with a missile, I guess. That said, a) I didn’t come up with the idea, my mother did and forced it on me, b) the renovation started in July and went on a snail’s pace, forcing me to live with my parents and indirectly possibly putting lives in danger, c) I don’t like what she came up with, d) the flat was already renovated a few years ago and didn’t need any changes, it even looked borderline sterile for my tastes, e) not a single surface in renovated flat is even.
I had a dream in which I was bleeding – not in any way that would put me in danger, I was mostly annoyed that I’ll have to wash all my clothes – but where the blood fell on the ground stunning tall red tulips grew. There were also ghosts of girls and cats in danger in the dream, but I think that was just some usual nonsense. I’d be interested in possible symbolism of the dream.
I am trying to think of some positives.
• The snow finally melted just before Easter and while there are few leaves, my garden is colourful with blossoming crocuses, marigolds, daisies, hyacinths (both common garden hyacinths and Armenian grape hyacinths), primroses, violets, early tulips, forsythias, plums and magnolias. In neighbouring gardens I see almonds, cherries and peaches blossoming light pink and willows with adorable fluffy catkins on bright yellow young twigs. I love how nature reacts immediately to the change of scenery.
• I met many friendly animals, including a family of fallow deer, a hedgehog, a fox, and many birds I have not seen here before or seen only rarely - goldfinches, grosbeaks, waxwings, long-tailed tits, and siskins. City dwelling rock pidgeons and jackdaws also seem to have moved here. Friend said that the war caused migration of birds westward, so that’s probably the reason. I think I will have to continue feeding them perhaps even into May. I bought them some parrot food with honey. We’ll see how they like it.
• I baked a delightful tart with elderberry and rose jam, condensed milk, almonds, candied orange peel and chocolate butterflies, as well as a cheesecake with raisins, blueberries, blackberries and plenty of lemon juice and peel.
• I completed the space panda suit in Shinning Nikki and have still over 30k pink diamonds left in the game. In Magia Record, I obtained four new magical girls (Momoko, Mito, Rumour Tsuruno and Tsukasa) in a short time period, surprising myself with this luck. Thank you MagiReco, thank you Momo-kun.
• I accidentally dyed a variety of laundry light pink, but I consider them to be much better looking that way and am satisfied with the accident.
• I also learned that there are at least two underground shelters in my neighbourhood and if worst comes to worst the canals can be a mostly safe hiding space, though not at all accessible with all my family members being disabled and us having to take our cats with us.
I have some thoughts about Dick Grayson and how the character is perceived both in fandom and among the creators, but when I tried to word them I ended up writing a short essay, which I don’t think would be fitting after a page of utter misery :/
If anyone would like to talk with me on any topic in private messages, I’d be glad. I feel guilty, lonely and afraid.

Just wanted to post this -- https://newsfounded.com/finlandeng/the-pentagon-has-found-nothing-to-confirm-rumors-of-russian-ammunition-being-carried-across-the-finnish-border-abroad/ -- in relation to our last exchange in last week's offtopic. Thought it might calm any anxiety you might have about the war spreading here.

Still, joining Nato before anything like that happens seems wise.

I adore the beautiful sights that we get around this time of year its such a lovely feeling seeing all these colorful and fun flowers

These animals sense what a good person you are

I wish I had this variety of fun and friendly animals roaming around near where I live. We do have some stray cats who I try to look out for tho. I leave them out food and a little water bowl

That sounds very tasty! :)

I had a pretty promising day off last week and I’m really hoping I can get the information I need to make some more progress in my insurance claim this week because I’m going to be limited in what I can do next week.

Current used car prices are obscene.

I don’t know what it is about Turning Red but it seems to be a magnet for morons. The last profoundly stupid internet take I saw is that this movie about a Canadian girl with magic panda powers is unrealistic because it takes place in 2002 and they aren’t constantly talking about 9/11 the year before.

Finally saw No Way Home. Rather than ramble about what I did and didn’t like, I’ll just say I’m very happy for Garfield. He seems like a nice guy and he deserves to be in a fun Spider-Man movie.

I watched about fifteen minutes of The Batman last night before I had to start fighting with the HBO Max app. Maybe I’ll have time to finish it this week.

I don’t have a lot of time to comment on the new Young Justice arc though I do have a fair amount to say. Short version is I’m happy to see Rocket but less enthusiastic about the New Gods stuff (oh boy, another political arc where the heroes ally with terrible people because the alternative is even worse).

I’ve read Slott’s F4 up until the Wizard arc. While I’m enjoying a lot of it, I really think this suffers from the same problem as his Spider-Man run; it just can’t stick to a status quo long enough for me to be invested. Hey, Frank and Val are active members of the team and … nope he lost his powers and if she contributes to the story at all now, she does it against her parents’ wishes. The extremely out of touch members of the team (ie everyone but Ben) have to live among normal people and … nope three quarters of them are back in the Baxter Building. Johnny has a new love interest and …look no one actually expected that to last but they were so busy telegraphing the end of the Sky/HT relationship that they forgot to give them a relationship.

I finished the Kyle Higgins Darkhawk mini and I REALLY hope they actually have plans for the character this time. It feels like we’ve been getting a one-shot and short story about once a year for the past handful of years teasing bigger plans for Powell but nothing ever materializes. This time we got a mini introducing a new character but there’s no indication of where he’ll be used next (are the Champions still a thing? He has an in with Miles) … also it teases bigger plans for Powell.

More Rocket is always good. (yay for Rocket representation!)

Maybe the New Gods will instead be more of the stuff with the Lords of Order.
The whole "we are supposedly good but won't actually be of any help to you because of some obstructive code we keep even though our enemies don't." routine.
(Which, admittedly, has been a problem with the New Gods for a very long time anyway...
... digging Highmother's Kirby hat, though.)

Who are they teaming up with?

Oh no they're not teaming up with Darkseid again are they

The one good thing I could’ve said about YJ Vandal Savage is “at least they’re overusing a new villain instead of Darkseid again,” and then this episode started. (Yeah, Darkseid had been in a few episodes earlier and was kinda hanging over the series, but always as part of Vandal’s plot)

Everybody is going crazy about the new TOH episode. Meanwhile here I'm like "this 100% convinced me that I do NOT want a Young Eda spin-off because, aside from the very final minute, this is the first episode of S2 I've found boring."

I just... don't care about high school hijinks. The episode only held my attention when it went back to the war against the dictator.

Still, I'll admit I loved the Bump scenes. Bump is such a great character.

It was mostly underwhelming, but I did love getting to see young Raine. Hooray for badass magical enbies!

The episode certainly didn't do Lilith any favors. The hell, Lilith, your sister saved you from expulsion and vanished for the day. You could at least listen to her explain what the hell happened.

A tree which I had given up for dead has suddenly, after nearly a week without water, started growing new shoots.
At this point, starting to think it's screwing with me...
(Water it, it starts dying. Don't water it, it bounces back. Make up your mind, tree!)

Doctor Who.
That was about the amount of acknowledgement I expected them to give the Doctor / Yaz situation.
Though really, Yaz, if you've been travelling with her this long and haven't figured out deflection is her go-to response, no helping you.
Give up, hen.

Dan felt... pretty pointless in this episode. And there was some weird editing in the first half and... a botched editing job would explain some things, but given how uneven the whole Chibnall era's been as a whole...
I dunno?
(A member of the family who was off elsewhere really likes the Sea Devils, and was upset they hadn't been informed and therefore missed the whole thing.
... in my defence, I thought they knew! It's not like it's easy to keep secrets on t'internet.)

As for the next time bit... I'm assuming they gave [HONK] a gun and not a [TRAIN GOES BY] to give the villains a fighting chance.

Spending the week just chilling.
Or would, if there was anything on Netflix. It's either crap or things I've already watched... so I'm not doing any of the things I said I would even though it's more than halfway through April now and aaaaaaaaAAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!!
... So I just watched BotBots, which is a very silly show.
But with a surprisingly sweet romance between a flashlight and a mannequin head.
(and what's all this between a bonsai tree and a macaroon?)

Thinking about Spider-Man: No Way Home...
I'm still not saying Mordo is right, but he definitely makes a point that merits further discussion, re: Stephen Strange.

There was a trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 the other week.
And that's just... what?
Did someone accidentally hit a time warp or something?

Yay, I actually have something to say about my comics reading this week!

Mister Miracle by Jack Kirby. A surprising amount of cheesecake in so e issues. If Barda's civilian clothes (and that's being generous) weren't skimpy enough, she also gets a scene in the bath.

I enjoyed the Funky Flashman issue. No idea who je was inspired by though. Excelsior!

In video games news...

Smash Bros Ultimate. I am feeling more confident in my skills after unlocking more fighters. I am leaning more towards Bowser or Princess Peach as my main. I still haven't unlocked everybody yet, so I might end up changing my mind again. That booty bump though. Ha-cha!

Lego DC Super-Villains. Been having fun with the character customiser. I got some ideas from how to videos online, but I also managed to mackle together my own ideas. Including a Spoiler minifig to go with the Best Batgirl I copied from online.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. More customiser fun. Of course I made a Wolfsbane minifig to go with the Magik and Magneto ones I got from online.

Fin Fang Foom is an unlockable character. I like to menace the Medieval England part of the open world and pretend I'm Smaug.

I have also unlocked Cosmo. You get him from completing a side quest. Now I have all the good boys! Lockjaw is unlocked through playing the story mode and Sparky is part of the Champions dlc. CapWolf is unlocked by completing another side quest.

I read Harrow the Ninth. I don't think I've ever read a book that was so much of internet fandom culture, despite which it's still quite original. Without giving too much away, I can say that it's certainly the only book I can recall reading that contains, for reasons that make perfect sense in context, a coffee-shop AU of itself (set up be a really, lovely, awful pun).

It did feel like the episode was very choppily edited at times and I'm sad that a lot was cut to fit an abridged run time. As one of the last specials we'll be getting I feel like it should at least have been an hour

I loved the Thasmin content! Even if it also made me cry :(

I loved Thirteen finally being honest about her feelings

Madame Ching was good but I agree they should have done more with her. I wanted to see more of her in pirate-y action

The Sea Devils were great!

Dan in his comedy pirate outfit was fun too

And the next time trailer has got me losing my damn mind

Three of my favorite Who villains, two awesome returning companions and the return of Kate Stewart too!

It's going to be so good to see Sacha back as the Master too

I also listened to the first episode of the new Who podcast Doctor Who: Redacted and I love it so far. The fact that the entire main cast is LGBT is amazing as is the fact we have a trans woman as a main character

It's great that we'll be getting some long absent Who characters returning as well including Rani from the Sarah Jane Adventures!

I am worried about Ryan and Graham tho :(

Life and the rest

This will be way off topic, but I guess I'm just venting from a mixture of grief and anger. So apologies for using this place to do so just now. Feel free to skip to something more cheerful.

I recently have had covid which I think I caught from using the avanti train service from Glasgow down to the Wales comic con in England. Avanti not only cancelled my service but also the one before it so that the train leaving Glasgow was jam packed full of three trains worth of people. And in those high speed trains you can't even open the windows. So with folks coughing and what not in such a confined environment and no longer using masks it was probably inevitable that I caught it then.
The convention itself was actually much more well run, but there is still that part of me that wonders if I did indeed have infectious covid when shaking the hands of the likes of Kevin Conroy. Certainly don't want to be responsible for killing Batman! As I have more than enough guilt to go around right now.

As my work being part of the public sector, that encompasses courts and tribunals, is really dialling back on making allowances for covid. So when I got back I was effectively still having to work, albeit in isolation at home, even though I was coughing and spluttering through all the many many calls I was getting from the general public. (A lot of callers realised I had covid just from the way they heard me coughing. ) And there were a lot, as most folk in my team had left, mainly from being overworked recently. So I was pretty much the only person answering the phone via the laptop headset in my bedroom for the week and a half right up to the Easter bank holiday.

And on the last day of that, the Thursday, I remember being on the headset dealing with a guy who was complaining about an inspection of his property being cancelled because the legal member in charge of the inspection had covid, ironically enough, but I was not allowed to tell this guy that, just that it was postponed, who of course went on and on ranting about the money this was costing him.
Whilst this was happening my living room phone rang. And obviously I couldn't pick it up. As I'd had a text on my mobile from the NHS informing the council I had covid I figured it was a just call about that. (The 1471 thing for finding out the number wasn't retrieving it.)

But actually I later found out from my Brother that it was my Dad, who was worried about me and was calling up to see how I was, and had naturally assumed that in my sickened condition I wouldn't be working.

Now because of work I normally only see him on a Sunday for Sunday dinner. But as a result of the convention and me getting covid that hadn't happened in 3 weeks and even then, I only saw him once in the three weeks before that as he had a stint in Hospital from collapsing from Heart failure, and the hospitals weren't letting visitors in because of the covid restrictions. So I'd only seen him once in the last six weeks, actually on Mothers day, where he reminded me to put flowers on my mothers grave on the way back to my appartment (She died when I was 9.)

Anyway I was still testing positive on Saturday, albeit with a thinline, but in reading everything about it, I was past the 10 days infectious period, and so was intending on going over to my Dads. (Though I would have worn my mask just in case.)
Normally how this happens is that I call him between 12:30 & 13:30 to confirm that I'm coming round. But I was late in calling him and only did so at 13:40 and got no reply. Which made me think that maybe he'd assumed I was not coming over again and had went for a easter lunch/dinner with my brother and his wife. But after trying to call later, I called my brother who told me that he wasn't with him and thought my Dad was at home. So he went back to check on him, only to find that my Dad had died at home, on his own, as his heart had given out, sometime after my brother had left at around 11.

So you can imagine how things have been since then. I was actually due to be doing an office day in Glasgow today, but needless to say I wasn't going anywhere near it. And I don't see how I could ever work there again, and listen to more whining members of the general public griping about their petty legal disputes when I'm living with the knowledge now that I ignored that last call I ever would have from my Dad because I was putting the job and those asshole people first.
And it is killing me.

Not to mention having to live in this country and seeing the news cycle about how Boris Johnson and his ilk having their parties and whatnot, whilst I spent at least 12 weeks of the pandemic not seeing my Dad, just to follow their rules that they couldn't even abide by.
My Dad was the kindest, most selfless soul you could ever imagine. And right now this world seems really hollow and self serving without him.

So yeah, finding it very hard right now to care much about anything. Certainly not the usual nitpicking about Doctor Who or Marvel or whatever. Because it all seems trivial and non important by comparison. If you are lucky enough to still have your loved ones in your life. please tell them how much you care about them. Don't leave it for another day, or avoid it because it's too awkward. Because as cold and cruel as this life is, you might never get another chance.

I've not been able to see any DW since "Fluxx" (no cable and none of our streaming services carry it for free) -- given the spoilers of 13's final episode, I need to rectify that before it drops.

Huh, I really thought somebody would’ve scooped me on the official Marvel Squirrel Girl podcast by now: https://variety.com/2022/digital/news/squirrel-girl-podcast-marvel-siriusxm-1235228417/

The first episode was pretty good

I got my shipment of Marvel United expansions this weekend. They take up three spaces in my Kallax (Ikea bookshelf) and I'm not sure when if ever I can bring most of this to the table, but the little figures look so neat. I just need to fill out the form to get a replacement for one of my Sentinels, which came broken.

I played a solo game of the GI Joe deck-building game, and it was a lot of fun. Unlike normal deck-builders, when you purchase a card it goes on top of your deck so you can better prepare for your next turn. I really love this game and can't wait to play it again.

I also played the Transformers deck-building game (again, solo) and it was still fun but pales compared to the GI Joe one. The hardest part is managing all of the resources. You have power (recruits cards and fight Decepticons, and is sometimes linked to range), movement (to move around the board and to flip cards face up so you can recruit/attack them. Also some move is "flying" move so you can use it to move diagonally), and energon (tracked with cubes that stick around at the end of the turn and can be used to transform or to power some of the more powerful effects). So at any given point in time you need to know how much of your power is at range 0, 1, 2 or more and which ones you've used. And even worse, because transforming is such an important mechanic and you have free move when in vehicle mode, you have to know whether you've spent your vehicle mode move when you transform into robot mode (where you have more abilities) But I still overall had fun and will play it again.

According to the cover of the latest GI Joe classics book I'm reading, Serpentor is about to show up. Since finding out that Larry Hama doesn't actually have a plan beyond the latest issue I'm not as enthusiastic about the series as I was but I'm still having a lot of fun.

I read the 4 Transformers/GI Joe crossovers that Devil's Due published. Man, I had so much faith in Tim Seeley to handle a book like this (he wrote the third and fourth series) but even his writing ability and tying them to Unicron and the original original GI Joe toys couldn't make Cobrala not terrible. But the first three were various shades of fun.

Gonna give Marvel Chmpions (the Living Card Game) a try. Anybody else play this? Any good?

Also the podcast Old Gods of Appalachia is getting a TTRPG. Currently on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/montecookgames/old-gods-of-appalachia-roleplaying-game

I don’t have thoughts on any of those but my go-to card game is Eternal (Online MtG with the serial numbers filed off)

I did notice that a new Marvel TTRPG (or possibly just the playtest rules) is out this week but I’m guessing that’s already on your radar.

I've made a dummy Amazon account, but I haven't quite mustered up the courage to buy the thing I made it for.
I console myself by saying it probably isn't very good anyway.

Ah Rocket finally gets the spotlight on Young Justice. We can almost pretend she was a real character back during season one.
We also got probably the least surprising revelation the show has ever done.

Legend of Korra's turned ten years old, which makes me feel old.
I still like it despite it's shortcomings, but it annoys me that certain people can't even manage to criticize it properly.

My brother has finished his watch through of Ben 10. Two thoughts, 1). I hope we get to see Ben's 14 children from the MPREG episode again someday, 2). The worst alien is Fasttrack, who's a knockoff of a more iconic one, with a terrible design.

Started watching Jem and The Holograms. I love how unrepentantly evil the Misifts are.
In a single two minute stretch they pushed a guy into a swimming pool, stole a bulldozer and were totally willing to run over some orphans.

I read the second Animorphs comic. Oh they were so young back then.
Sadly their probably only going to do six of these, so we won't get to see the adaptions of the where Tobias kills Hitler. Or the one were Marco shills for The Phantom Menace.

I was also glad that Rocket is getting actual character development after three seasons of barely-even-background appearances. I was sure afraid we would see some some actual character from her when the first season ended, so luckily the five year time skip prevented that from happening.

Sadly Ben's first children only get mentions from there and never show up again

IIRC Fasttrack was made as a tie-in to the Ben 10 mascot racing game, so it's whole terribleness is kind of fitting. Couldn't even get a differet color pallette from XLR8.

I have a number of rants with regards to all of Alien Force/Ultimate Alien era but a big focus on redundancy with the original series aliens was part of it. But they at least usually had the decency to mke aliens that at least had some difference (even if it just made them inarguably better than the older one) I mean, why would Ben ever transform into Heatblast or Wildvine now that he has Swampfire?

Just learned about this today, but a team of mechanical engineers from MIT have developed what they call an "Oreometer", a device for separating Oreo cookies in an optimal fashion.

That gag of Fry putting together an Oreo only to separate it is slowly becoming a reality.

A while back I mentioned that the Babylon Bee was using a Twitter suspension to grift money from other far right nutjobs.

Today I found out the “Libs of TikTok” account that has been doxing teachers on Twitter is backed by the same people. And they’re back to fundraising now that the Washington Post has outed them.

Man, I wonder what they’ll do for money when Musk takes over and the platform becomes even more of a lawless hellscape.

There is nothing more utterly cringe than when right wingers try to be funny

Not a single one of these slack jawed morons has the intellectual capacity to do anything remotely creative, least of all humor.

They really should stick to the things there good at like watching NASCAR and doing meth. Leave creativity to the people whose souls haven't shriveled up and rotted

Trying to catch up on all my reading while avoiding all the election crap going on in the background. (I live in Australia) Watching Moon Knight which is getting pretty intense and starting to enjoy the second season of Picard, it's taken me awhile because I personally think the whole back in time thing us a little overdone now. Still trying to sort out Comixology, there a a few trades I want to buy digitally and Amazon isn't making it easy for people living outside the US. Hopefully they will fix this problem, fingers crossed.

In the world of politics this week Ron DeSantis is trying to pick a fight with Disney. You'd think a Republican would know better than to think that poor people can tell the rich what to do. Sounds to me like Disney needs to buy a new governor to replace the current defective one come election time

In even more hilarious news whiny pearl clutching right wingers tried to shame Alexandra M Hunt, a bad-ass lady currently running for congress for being a former stripper. She responded by making it clear she gave zero fucks and starting an Onlyfans account. I'm already subscribing to it and I'd vote for her too

She's exactly the kind of person I want to see more of in politics.

For one thing as someone who is pro-porn and pro-sex work I have far more respect for her than most other politicians.

For another I think we need more people like this in power to rid the countires politics of the infestation of bible thumping "Moral majority" morons that it currently suffers from

I say let''s Make America Horny Again

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2022/04/14/mississippi-library-lgbt-furry-help-funding/

In another example of how Furries are joyful people a library that was being denied funding by the bigoted shitstain that was currently mayor received a huge boost in funding by them raising money to support the library in question. The mayor has also finally be forced to provide the funding the library is legally entitled to and been prevented from forcing the library to censor itself.

It's funny how Republicans complain about Cancel Culture and "De platforming" and yet are desperate to prevent libraries and schools from providing books they don't agree with.

I'm trying to think what other famous political movement was really keen on destroying books...it's on the tip of my tongue...

I've been watching the new Heartstopper show on Netflix and enjoying it a lot so far.

Great cast and it feels like it's been made with a lot of heart :)

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2022/04/14/kristen-stewart-love-lies-bleedinggay-film/

We're getting a lesbian romance/thriller starring Kristen Stewart and I'm thrilled about that. Love Kristen Stewart as an actress and as a person and we desperately need more thrillers where the romance isn't some boring hetero one

Speaking of movies starring women I adore that are going to be very queer we got the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder this week and I'm excited for it

I hope that we'll get lots of scenes with Valkyrie and her new lady love in action and that the script is going to make good use of her character and make the MCU's first big screen lesbian romance a major part of the plot

I also hope that Chris Pratt's scenes in the trailer are literally his only presence in the film because I want as little of him and the crappy MCU version of Star Lord in the film as possible

Jane Foster is looking great in her Thor costume which has made me very happy

Went to see The Lost City the other day and it was a cute enough flick. Sandra Bullock is always a delight and Channing Tatum is very good at playing a charming dumbass

Was fun to see Daniel Radcliffe playing against type as a villain here too. Tho it was hampered by the fact that even when he's being awful he still looks and sounds so adorable

Treated myself to a new horror book The Book of Beastly Creatures by Hex Media, a collection of scary short stories including some featuring some of their creations from their movies. Great fun

Also treated myself to some new Transformers. I now have a new Arcee figure to be a cool lesbian aunt to my Rattrap toy

Also have some fun little minicons including Blackjack and Hyperdrive. I have almost got the whole of Team Stream from the IDW comics now!. I am only missing Tracer and Astrotrain

(rot13) Enmre (/rot13) shows up! And is in character! And I’ve probably done nothing to spoiler that because the show only had so many characters I’d be excited about seeing again and only one of them has a five letter name.

Apparently the 70th attempt to adapt Jeff Smith's Bone has been cancelled (this time by Netflix).

On a completely unrelated note, Netflix does not understand why it is losing subscribers but they did just raise their prices and have announced plans to crack down on password sharing..
