"Hey, loyal ASM-fans!!! Super-hoping that you all liked what you just read. I know a bunch of you (looking at one particular Chicagoan) probably didn't like the last couple pages very much." - Nick Lowe
Not priorly familiar with the individuals in question, but Chi-Town Spidey, who reviews Spider-man comics at spidermancrawlspace.com, seems to take it as referring to them.
Digger? DIGGER?! How...I know there's the green door thing, but Digger is multiple people! 13 of them, if I remember right. They can't ALL have the same door. And they aren't supposed to remember the door!
And this still pisses me off. Things were getting FIXED after the whole Kindred thing. MJ and Peter, back together. We found out that their kid defeats Mephisto for god sake. And then this happens. What's the point? It isn't going to last. Instead of this nonsense, they could have had the trial and tribulations of moving back in together.
And why is White Rabbit Tombstone's "muscle"?! Since when did he need muscle?! He is the muscle!
Ah yes, White Rabbit. A character who no one can decide is an actual threat or not, mainly because her first appearance was in Marvel Team-Up where she got beaten by Frog-Man. I like her, she's wacky.
I love how the non-powered Rose has a gamma-enhanced Digger as his muscle, while superstrong, invulnerable Tombstone has the non-powered White Rabbit as his.
Too bad the sides didn't square off. I'm curious how Rabbit planned to beat a gamma mutate with razor-sharp carrots.
So, that's Paulisto, right? Holding the potential children of Peter and Mary-Jane as hostage to force her to work with him on some petty thing with Peter?
On the off-chance it isn't I guess I should trademark that guess before Marvel does it.
Alternatively, Paul is the Rose - the crime boss's wearing a full face mask, does not explicitly confirm being Richard Fisk, and both of them have big glasses.
Could've just said the gamma-powered Digger's " back from the dead ", left the readers to either go " Oh, right, like in Immortal Hulk " or " Oh, right - his ' death ' involved him being exhausted of gamma energy. Maybe he ' recharged ' or ' reconstituted ' himself or something. "
Could've just let it pass without offering those or any other explanations, because showing that a thing implicitly happened and having the other characters take it in stride without commenting works to put that sort of thing across.
But no, we have to burn one panel invoking a motif from a previous series and then dismissing it, because all genre writers will inevitably make a reference to a previous thing as a substitute for doing something (dialogue, character action, anything) that could stand on its own.

Yeah, but neither of those would have been as funny.
i don't understand what's happening.... how many years has past since the whole Ben Reily thing, and Peter being too irradiated? i thought peter and mj were doing well again... that is clearly May, or Annie, but who is paul?!?!
“Spider-Man finds himself caught up in a mob war” isn’t exactly a cliche, but it is something that happens to him from time to time. Innocent people have to be protected but he also wants to stop the criminals from killing each other.
I think there's a reason for it. It's good setup, you can showcase both Peter being a good guy, the various villains doing their sinister thing, and have some fun totally not unexpected betrayals/swerves/side changes.
There's a reason people keep going back to it, because it's a good premise.

You'd think Peter would be more concerned about Randy marrying any of those.
I was half joking last time I brought it up in relation to Harry and Flash but I'm really starting to think Peter is a terrible friend.
