NS: Lady Gaga is Harley Quinn?

Not making this up… Lady Gaga is apparently in talks to star in the upcoming Joker sequel, presumably as Harley Quinn. The film is also apparently a musical? More info here.

At minimum this isn’t going to be a retread of the first film…

I could see songs as part of Harley's delusions, she's always been the more musical of the two and I don't think Phoneix is a singer.

Heh, why not?
I hate the current Joker with all my guts but the movie managed to make him different enough for me to actually enjoy his story. Maybe they'll accomplish the same miracle with Harley.

Considering how much the first one borrowed from Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy, I'm assuming this one is going to retread New York, New York. That's the Scorsese musical where De Niro and a singer played by Liza Minnelli fall madly in love before he destroys the relationship with his violent, unstable behavior.
