Rowell seems to enjoy using a lot of deep cuts. The book's main plot involves Jack of Hearts after all.

Which wouldn't be so bad if this book wasn't supposed to be about She-Hulk.

The early issues seemed more like a Jack of Hearts series with She-Hulk as a guest star. This issue was slightly better though.

I like Jen.

But I'm a huge fan of the Slott run where the supporting cast had as much (if not more) going on as She-Hulk did.

Also, full points to this writer for remembering Mary's on the side of the angels with Gamma Flight now rather than just having her revert to bad guy again.

Yeah. I was going to be highly annoyed if Mary and Crusher promptly backslid into villainy again after the turn they took in Hulk and Gamma Flight.

I can really get behind "Titania and She-Hulk regularly meet up to hit each other for a workout and to release pent-up aggression" and "Oh yeah, Marsha and Ben want in on this also." Maybe it even expands into a full scale superhuman fight... group, and you see other superstrong, superdurable people showing up just to do this on a friendly basis. But I also like it being a small, intimate group of people who, if not friends, can be on mutually respectful terms.

If, at the end of the day, even one or two characters actually make permanent positive changes, like Mary and Crusher, I can be happy. They deserve the opportunity to escape the usual rut characters like them wind up in (just ask the Wrecking Crew, who exist only to be beaten by whatever heroes need a quick punchy-punch to break up the monotony, or to appear in villain crowd scenes...)

Amusingly enough, Volcana's last appearance was in a previous She-Hulk series (Charles Soule's run) in 2015. But you're right in that she's had barely a handful of appearances, and almost nothing of significance, in decades. I guess she just settled down to enjoy a quiet life for the most part, which seems fitting for the character's nature.

It didn't help that most of her prior appearances revolved around her relationship with Jim Shooter's pet character Molecule Man, then Marvel's subsequent anti-Shooter pushback after he was fired.

It would not be terribly surprising if it transpired the reason Volcana's survived this long is because most writers at Marvel either:
A; didn't remember she existed in the first place.
B; thought she was already dead anyway.

"Doomed-up tough lady". heh. It's funny because it is true.

Agreed. Always good to see more plus-sized ladies in comics and not have them be the butt of jokes.
