Psi-Judge Anderson in: "Satan"

Alan Grant deals with the theme of Evil Incarnate, ably illustrated by Arthur Ranson. 19 pages from a story of 57, so unfortunately many, many pages vistas of Satanic majesty omitted, but then this is for the writing, not the art, so let's just cut to Anderson following in the footsteps of all those famous figures that managed to challenge and outwit the Devil -



Sorry! My mistake. Anyway, the story also ends with perhaps the most compassionate little speech Judge Dredd will ever make.

Human error interrupts the orbit of the Icarus asteroid, releasing an imprioned being from within. Looking over the history of humanity since it was locked away, the being is pleased, and heads for Earth.

Its arrival shatters every window in Mega-City One, and sends the citizens into pass panic and rioting. The Big Meg tries nuking it to no effect, and it casually annihilates the "freak-show" religious delegation they send out as a last resort.

Who is left to stand against Satan?

This might be the most interesting version of the Devil I've ever seen. If I ever run a DnD campaign, this guy's the big bad.

It's from the first seven issues of the third volume of the Judge Dredd Megazine (!), before they got wise and started a proper numbering system. 1996? My scans are from the 'Judge Dredd Mega Collection' series from seven years back (yikes!).

Digital not a problem to get hold of, and while it's out of print at Rebellion, Amazon does list itself as having copies.
