I'll admit to being disappointed here. I had guessed that Tynion was planning something with James Gordon Jr. when we had that entire flashback issue about him as a kid staging a Joker kidnapping but I was hoping for something along the lines of him orchestrating everything behind the scenes with Bane. Ah, well.

And the backup featuring Punchline...

She does know it's the internet, right? Fifteen minutes and they'll be obsessing over something else.

Well, at least the super secret network that helped villains evade capture is no more.

So I'm certain that the next time a villain commits a crime, they'll be going straight to jail.

Being in Texas helped Joker get the guns to escape from Gordon. I think it's more going to work AGAINST him with this hitchhiking attempt.

This does bring up an interesting thought. Outside of Gotham, how many people would have the immediate reaction of "huh, there's a clown hitchhiking, it must be the Joker!"

Texas is usually outside of his usual stomping grounds of the Gotham-Metropolis area, so maybe someone might not make the connection immediately.

Plus, if you realize you're sharing a car with the Joker eventually, then at that point it might be too late to do anything.

Hmm. He's on the net now, though. Even if you don't think "Mass murderer the Joker," you might think, "One of those weirdo internet clown fanboys what does the muggings and vandalisms for the lulz."

I get that Punchline is intelligent, dangerous, and nihilistic--

But she's not FUNNY. Or maybe I just don't get the joke?

I agree, though I'd basically say the same of most takes on the Joker for the past several decades.

"He's so unpredictable."

"He's gonna show up, kill a bunch of people, try to mess with Batman and then claim it's his fault."

"So unpredictable... how could we possibly know and prepare for what he's gonna do next. Just no way of knowing what he's gonna do."

Know what would be funny? Shoving her off the building. What, you don't think that's funny? Do you feel the Punchline fell flat?
