I found Death To Mutants vastly more interesting than baseline AXE, mainly because it spent much more time on the Eternals than Aaronvengers or Mutant Supremacy Island. There's only so much punch kick oh no the mutants are being genocided again so we don't have to consider how fucked up their culture has become I can take.
Also it was just nice to see Ikaris and crew take an active role in preventing horrible warcrimes.|
Also very eager to see the next issue of this tie-in, because apparently it will focus on Kro and the Deviants.
Yes, that's exactly my point. As long as writers keep throwing genocidal threats at the xmen they don't have to reflect on how they've turned the minority metaphor into a supremacist fantasy.
Yeah, This ain't it. The Minority group found a place where they can exist in a world that has been trying to purge them for decades, they shouldn't concern themselves with how the people trying to kill them feel about them, nor should they be required to hold the people that hate them in high esteem. While they have to deal with problematic biases against mutants who can't "pass" for human, it's far from being comparable to the genocide they face from the outside world.
The real-world analogy that tracks is colorism in the Black community. Darker-skinned Black folks are treated poorly within our community, BUT White folks really don't have the depth of experience to critique it.
Eh, not the biggest Eternals guy, but I get the feeling Ikaris from the times I've seen him over the years has always been more of the 'noble bruiser', or maybe an Orion-lite to borrow a DC character. I think they're just leaning into how less than brilliant that characterization has made him over the years.
Every time I think the X-Men have gone too far Marvel decides to drop an event where the Avengers/Inhumans/Eternals make them look like saints by comparison.
Can't wait to see what unspeakable atrocities Power Pack is going to commit in a few years so Professor X can feel better about his life choices.
Avengers were supposed to be the good guys in AVX and the inhumans were supposed to have an equally valid POV in IVX. This is the first one where the faction attacking Mutants is supposed to be the villains.
I think it’s more Mutants are doing their own thing then some other editorial office decides to try to get attention and boost their sales by dragging the bigger fish into some ridiculous and contrived conflict.
Yeah, that was the intent in both cases I'm sure, but it really did NOT work out in execution.
It's pretty much impossible to read IVX and think the Inhumans have a valid point of view as their Terrigenesis Clouds wander around the whole planet Earth, triggering Terrigenesis in humans who don't have enough of the "good" DNA to survive the process (and IIRC the Inhumans "claim" those DO survive as being THEIR people now and are subject to inhuman rule) and outright KILLING mutants, and their reaction is "The cloud has to be allowed to go where it wants and any attempt to interfere with it is an insult to our culture"
Uni-mind went up against Xavier, Emma, Exodus, and Hope channeling Exodus at the same time. I doubt they put their strongest psychic assets into that Uni-mind anyway. Zuras may be fighting defensively here as well.
Zuras is probably highly opposed to the whole thing but has spend hundreds of thousands of years telling the Eternals they need to do as the Prime Eternal says, even when they disagree.

So, maybe not the most ingenious Eternal of the bunch.

Date: 2022-08-19 02:32 am (UTC)The Avengers caused the cosmic space chicken to get split up in AVX and are as much if not more to blame for what followed as the five hosts were.
The Inhumans were - at best - completely oblivious to the horrible death cloud they unleashed on the mutants.
