NYCC 2022 - Sunday Roundup

Rather than create a lot of individual posts for announcements made at this years, New York ComicCon, let's try and keep them to one thread, where those who want spoilers can peruse at their leisure and those who don't can avoid the risk of running across them.

Because of the range of the media covered we'll give a little more leeway than just comics reveals.



Sunday saw the "Women of Marvel" panel

The Owl House panel covered the sadly cut short series.

Not exactly Sunday news, but Joe Quesada will be doing some work for DC

And on the trailers front, we have:

Doom Patrol Season 4 (Good grief, they're actually going to feature Codpiece... I hope that means Coagula might be making an appearance too

Titans Season 4 got a teaser (with a rather familiar spell) and we have a first look at Gar Logan's Beast Boy outfit, which we see in action for the first time in this clip

 

And in one of those insane little details that it's unlikely we'll ever be able to see on screen (especially given how dark the whole series is shot), the fabric for his costume has a tiny pawprint pattern



Transformers Earthspark got more of a trailer, and a release date of November 11th

I have to admit I do rather like the concept that Sinister's dystopian future where he won even fucks him over.

The Owl House needs to get an AMA or something, because the way the panel went was ridiculous. The room was very small, so only a small amount of people was allowed to enter, and many who had been in line for over one hour were turned away. Then, of those extremely lucky few who made it in, only less than ten were allowed to ask a question. I have multiple friends who were complaining about this, and I 100% agree with them.

Putting aside for a moment my personal opinion that most of the questions sucked too (pretty much the only good one was "what was Raine doing when Eda was being petrified?"), it's just really frustrating that getting a small word of god from the crew feels like pulling fangs from a sabretooth. I personally have a question from all the back back to Season ONE.

Part of it is Disney.

Part of it is that Dana seems to be introverted as hell and hates putting herself out to answer fan questions. She does seem to love her fans, but she doesn't play with them the way other creatives do. She participated to *ONE* posthoot (official stream), and didn't answer any of the questions people had actually left, instead she depended on Cissy Jones to act as middle woman.

I can totally relate to being an introvert who's nevertheless expected to promote the hell out of their work. It's rough.

Also, fuck Disney for not giving Owl House much more time and support. They really don't appreciate good things sometimes.

I just saw the announcements where Tini Howard is writing both a Betsy/Captain Britain mini and a Rogue/Gambit mini.

Sigh. She's not my cup of tea, and I'd like her to stop writing characters I want to read about.
