Really fun story I thought, with very well done art that fits it very well. Love the portrayal of Batman here too, and the nod to his early, typically over-looked days as a crime fighter when he carried (and used) pistols.
He never used pistols, plural. He used a pistol, and rarely.
Like, once.
Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; oh sure, he carried it around often, but before his first year of publication, it wasn't even a standard part of his costume. I think the short gloves lasted longer . . .
And Batman only used them once here--twice if you count drawing them onto both of Savage's temples. They make sure to explicitly mention that this Batman hasn't killed anyone.
Even when GA Batman killed explicitly onscreen was a) against a vampire (so, who knows, maybe that doesn't count, considering vampires are, by rule, already dead) and b) against a genetically altered "monster man" giant who there was no known cure for (of course, it's not like he spent any effort on trying but, anyway . . .).
However, even then, Batman didn't use pistols, plural. This is the first time I've every seen him with a gun for each hand.
