Greetings, good citizens of
scans_daily!
We need your help! The moderating team needs volunteers for the following positions, and we want you!
Volunteer openings:
Some of you now might be thinking to yourselves: "Golly! I think I've got what it takes! But how do I apply for the volunteer position(s) of my choice?"
Easy! All you have to do is send us an e-mail at dailyscans[at]gmail[dot]com!
Be sure to include the following in your e-mail:
- The position(s) for which you are applying
- Any relevant experience or skills you possess
- Your username (this is especially important so that we can recognize you over here)
Once we've cleared you, you'll be asked to join
sd_volunteers. This is our primary method of communication with our intrepid volunteer team, but it's also where you can talk to each other, discuss problems or ideas, and help us troubleshoot new ideas for the community. Basically, if you're interested in helping develop the future of the comm, then volunteering is where it's at.
We're proud of
scans_daily and are happy to see it continue on and grow, and we appreciate your effort and enthusiasm! Volunteer for
scans_daily and we'll love you forever.
Thanks,
The scans_daily moderating team

We need your help! The moderating team needs volunteers for the following positions, and we want you!
Volunteer openings:
- TAG WRANGLERS:
We have some tag wranglers already, but this is such a big job that we're always recruiting more. Although everyone can edit tags on posts, the wranglers make it their job to pay special attention: adding them if they're missing, fixing errors, as well as taking the occasional gander at the tag page, keeping it tidy and correcting any erroneous tags they find there.
You may already be an expert on howscans_daily's tags work, but if you're not or you need a refresher, check out the Tagging Tutorial that
foxhack kindly created. If you're new to the concept of tags, you might find Dreamwidth's FAQ helpful.
Tag wranglers should be fairly regular in their visits toscans_daily, make a habit of looking at the tag page and the tags of posts they read, and add/edit tags when necessary. A broad knowledge base of comics helps, but some of our wranglers have discovered that tagging is a good way to learn about comics, too.
Join the TAG WRANGLING TEAM for a WRANGLIN' good time! - MENTORS:
scans_daily is a community with a lot of history – six years old this December, a home base on three different journal hosts, and at one time a peak membership of over 9000 members. Yes, we know. The joke has been made. We get more members every day, some of whom are just making their way back to us after our LiveJournal TOSing, some entirely new, many of whom have never been on Dreamwidth before.
Mentors help new members (and maybe even old members who eventually find their way back to us) adjust to the community, offering tricks and tips on scanning and making posts, helping them navigate posts, tags and rules, and guiding them to furtherscans_daily resources.
We are preferably looking for people who have been members ofscans_daily for a long time; are very familiar with the community, its history, culture, ethos, rules and policies; and enjoy helping out their fellow comic enthusiasts. Members who are additionally familiar with Dreamwidth, or who would like to sign up specifically as guides to making the Dreamwidth transition would also be very welcome.
You'll be a real hero to newcomers wanting to dive into the fun that isscans_daily. Become a mentor! You'll be the Batman to their Robin! (But, we hasten to add, not that kind of Batman.)
- TECHNICAL CONSULTANT(S):
The mod team doesn't always have the time or the expertise to find the best solutions to some of the more technical problems we face in managing the community. We need one to two people who can help us with these issues: answering questions, doing research, and even writing some code if necessary.
Unlike the other positions, this is an “as needed” role rather than a series of tasks you'll be asked to fulfill day by day, or even week by week. Expect to be called upon once every few weeks to few months on an irregular basis, with the understanding that individual projects might vary in complexity and urgency.
It's just like being on the Global Frequency! Except not really. Sign up anyway, and we'll give you a number and pretend to call you on a super special mobile phone, how about that?
