Cully Hamner and Greg Rucka, you are awesome. Awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome. The rest could be 29 pages of Kate knitting drawn by me and I'd still buy this.
At thusly, the fully qualified carpenter who was only at the warehouse to pick up his brother is crippled by his Huntress-inflicted injury, causing his life to fall into a never ending cycle of self-destructive alcohol and drug abuse.
Those shoulderpads have been sitting in warehouse somewhere since the 90's, but the rest of it looks pretty good. I like the colors and the shin guards. Maybe could use a little more boob support.
Bleh. Huntress is one of those characters who can't seem to catch a break, costume-wise. I don't think I've liked *any* of her outfits (see also: Wonder Man).
Well, Steph has a second belt crossing along the top to anchor it. Hel's is just low-slung. Looking at it, it looks like all the weight's on one side and it might level out when her crossbow's in its holster, though I might've liked the crossbow side to hang more if either of them has to, like a gunfighter's belt.
Beat me to it! I think the most notable absence (aside from that damn belly window) is the cape. It's not necessarily a bad decision, capes can be pretty cumbersome for street-levelers, but it's just a big deal because it's something she's always had.
The shoulder-pads are a little gaudy, and the mask looks weird from that angle, but all in all, I think I'm cool with this. The one thing that really bothers me is the zipper. Unless she's got some padding down below, that thing's gotta be uncomfortable.
Anyway, since I asked Cully by e-mail if they were doing anything about it, I'm definitely gonna have to send a follow-up and thanks. This was a great chapter, by the way! I'm sure I'll post more from it once I have better scans.
Well, I dunno how fair it is to call it Nicola's, since it debuted a year and a half before she joined the title (and under Joe Bennett's pencils, surprisingly enough!), but she's certainly responsible for some of the better depictions of it! (though let's not sell Paulo Siqueira short, that guy's alright in my book)
I'm not especially feeling the shoulder pads, but at least they have an armour value. Likewise the shin guards and the gauntlets, I suppose- I'm not sure purply-pink is the colour I'd plump for, given the chance, but at least they'd offer some protection in a scrap.

Date: 2009-11-26 03:23 am (UTC)I agree with the zipper, but I wouldn't have that problem personally since I'm a member of the Oracle club.
Replace the shoulder pads with a white cape that extends from the cross pattern I think. Maybe make the inside of the cape dark purple.

Date: 2009-11-26 08:28 pm (UTC)Ding dong the belly window's gone! Could have done without the ugly shoulder pads, but I can live with ugly. I can't live with stupid.
