He calls up a shark to defend himself. The shark is also dead.

What I find more interesting is not that he's able to control dead aquatic animals, but that he seems to have lost the ability to call live ones.

They're not really bullet proof. They draw blood as you can see on his head when he is struck. If they were bullet proof there wouldn't be a reason for him to protect Mera.

Their resistance to deep sea pressures makes their bodies very durable and dense.

Dunno about to this extent, but their tissues are dense enough (ocean depths and all) you definitely couldn't count on bullets stopping them. "Bullet resistant" at the least.

Looks like their outfits are partially responsible too.

Question! That scene with the dead sharks: Sharks don't have bones right? But they drew the sharks with bones or is that how cartilage looks and I haven't watched enough discovery channel?

So some abilities from the Black Lantern ring remain.

Well, so far it seems like Aquaman is the only one to retain his black lantern powers. Which is because, I guess, most BLs didn't get special powers, IIRC. It will be interesting to see if the former BLs can see people"s emotions, though.

But like I said, the true magnification of this, to me, is that he seems to have exchanged the ability to call dead aquatic animals for the ability to call live ones, which could be a problem. This has yet to be confirmed, but it's weird that he would just happen to call two dead animals right next to each other, otherwise.

People always give Aquaman shit for his fish-summoning powers, but some sea-critters are the stuff of freaking nightmares. Especially the ones that live near the bottom.

And I've also always been a fan of the idea that, if he wanted, he could ring up Cthulhu to do his work for him. XD

The thing about deep-water fish is is their bodies aren't designed for low-pressure environments, which is why giant squid that come to the surface never stay alive for very long.

So, sure, he could summon up some Abyssal Nightmare but only against a threat that it could deal with in 10 minutes.

And then put up with Atlantian News Sources criticising him for leading his troops into death, again.

To be fair, some Somali pirates in a craft one step up from a rowboat fired on a 400+ foot US Navy frigate not that long ago, so it's not as if tactical blunders of that magnitude don't occur in the real world too...

Awesome: Mera's ability to Summon Water Weird. White Plume Mountain? Anyone? Bueller?
Awful: Bullets bounce off Atlanteans. Super strength, good, invulnerability also is too much.
Headdesk: Concentric circles from Arthur's forehead. Vuu vuu vuu is so lame.

I'm trying to get a good look at Mera's feet, whether she still has flippers. Not too important, but I kind of like the idea that Merpeople have a look that's a little alien.

I'm suddenly reminded of JLU scene when the Wonder Twins... I mean Downpour and Shifter fought Aquaman. Aquaman defeated a T-Rex underwater, and then Downpour unleashed his fury upon him, only to have Aquaman shrug it off like it was nothing.

Isn't it amazing how bad guys can always shoot accurately when the target is bulletproof? Most pirates would switch to full-auto and miss most of their shots. There's be ricochets bouncing around.
