I kinda love him for that though. Most crazyness today is of the asshole or bigot variety, so it's refreshing to see some genuine batshit crazy every now and then. In a world of Mormon street preachers, Neal Adams is the homeless guy shouting at the moon.
Honestly, I think as long as their opinions, political or religious aren't shoehorned into their work where it likely doesn't belong, does it really matter?
I can't enjoy Adams' art anymore because I hate his inks. If only Giordando were still alive, or they hired some brilliant inker like Nowlan, Sienkiewicz, or Garcia-Lopez.
His crazy batshit ideas are part of his fun, really. As others have said here, there's far, far worse crazy to believe in.
There's a difference between a trainwreck like Rise of Arsenal and a trainwreck like this. This is completely goofy as hell, it doesn't serve any discernible purpose other than as a venue for Neal Adams to just go totally nuts, and has that Crazy Old Uncle vibe that hasn't been seen in comics since like 1968.
Credit where credit is due - what Batman's doing WORKS, even if it's a tad on the extreme side - and presumably, those guns are just loaded with blanks or the like. (Or, alternately, that's not really Batman.) And that first page is more than somewhat disturbing.
No, no...those are real, loaded guns, and it's really Bruce. This is his object lesson to Robin about why guns aren't very useful, and it's supposedly a flashback to his first night in the suit. It's still massively crazy stuff, though. :)

I really don't know what's worse: Batman busting out the fliest dance moves in Gotham or the John Woo-inspired Batman sequence.
WTF Neal Adams...and get a real inker/finisher, for God's sake.
