I am posting this link to a pretty awesome Tumbler, I was gonna post an interview from CBR featuring the cast of Smallville mainly because i loved Erica Durance's interview. because of legality i was searching for badass Lois Lane moments, sadly it is easier said than done (seriously people! this is Lois G-Damed Lane... Any ways on the while looking for said images (posted below) i came across this tumbler site and found they also posted this interview! so i decided to grab some images from it for legality and just give you the link to the interview they had posted there and the blog itself.

:D

Really Love the show or hate it, i think this Lois Lane has been one that best bridged the gap between Margot Kidder and the Comics. In my head when i think lois lane, i will see images of both Kidder and Durance in my mind.

The interview: (half way through it gets emotional)

The Legality

From Birds of Prey (some one help me with this issue number please)

From...I don't know, the art looks like the guy that did Green Arrow a while back, so its fairly recent... but it looks to be a flash back.... (coudl use some help here too)

I posted this one mainly because as a film lover the reference to lavender/lilac made me giggle

PS: Really there is a very large lack of awesome Lois Lane moments (i know she has them, but they are very hard to find. Maybe we should Do a Lois Lane Week or something, really its deplorable.

I didn't want to watch Smallville because I had heard he wouldn't be putting on the suit. Ten years later, I wish I had. But it's fun having it the whole thing in the Netflix queue. I'm up to season 3, episode 8.

Favorite moments so far: Jonathan says to try to lift the tractor one more time, and Clark throws it a half mile away. The headpalm look from Jonathan and the sheepish look from Clark are perfect, while the tractor is still spinning away in the background. Also, when Clark was thrown in the furnace, I was thinking, oh, great, he'll come out with singed boots or something. Whoa, shocker, everything burned completely away! If only the flames had died down, it would have been a full reversal. :D

So I'm already following fuckyeahlois, anyone want another follower? Although I might be following you already, I'm not sure because there's 105 so far, and people's LiveJournal, Dreamwidth and/or Tumblr names frequently don't match.

Yeah, the story had the solar flares kick off because of a comet hitting the sun. It was actually a little freeeky, because the next day it happened in real life:

Anyway, I love almost everything about it so far. Too bad there's not another quality series in the works to take its place.

Kidder and Byrne

Margo Kidder finally put the stake in the heart of awful, passive-aggressive Lois Lane who existed only to uncover Superman's secret identity, and marry Superman, and make her a really live. Of the leading ladies out there then, I really believe she is the only one who could have pulled it off. She gave us one hell of a gift, and she has sadly suffered the doom of those actors who play a part so well they become typecast for the rest of their functional career years. We owe her one hell of a lot.

I also think Lois is the character who benefited most from the reorganization and reinvention engendered by Crisis on Infinite Earths. Folks may not agree, but John Byrne's "Man of Steel" took the ball Margo got rolling and ran with it. Of all the things we saw Byrne do that have been retconned back out of Superman's mythos over the intervening years, his changes to Lois and Luthor were the ones that were most needed, and the ones that stuck.

Agreed. I actually liked Byrne's revamp a lot as an origin. It doesn't mean I'd have liked things to stay exactly as they were when Byrne wrote it, but as a starting point the characterization and plot points were brilliantly logical. And while post-COIE Luthor is probably his masterpiece, Lois Lane was one of those things that he also did really, really well by mining the Golden Age. I find that often when writing strong women, people have a tendency to fall back on the bland, bare-bones blueprint of Strong Female Lead (TM), and Byrne averted that trope really hard with Lois, making her character traits really unique and organic, not cut and pasted from some bland strong female archetype. It made her feel like she was a real life person, or based on a real life person that Byrne knew. (And I don't know about anyone else, but I always felt that Clark and Lois had a bit of a gender-flipped case of All Good Girls Want Bad Boys). When I think of Lois Lane, I never think of Kidder or Durance. I always think of the comics.

I agree on Lois being the Bad Boy to Clark's Good Girl. At least a little.

I love Lois Lane, and that's why I can't stand Erica Durance's portrayal, which has been execrable. Granted, this is more the writers' fault than the actress', although I consider Durance to be a poor actress.

As for Smallville, it should have gone off the air five years ago. The show's quality has declined steadily ever since.

There are only two things I really liked about Smallville: a) the pilot episode and b) Clark and Lex's romance friendship. I've found parts of it somewhat enjoyable, and I agree: while I liked that female character (who was coincidentally named Lois Lane) who Durance played, that character ain't Lois Lane ;)

Erica Durance getting emotional reminded me of Summer Glau getting emotional at one of the first Firefly conventions (don't remember the link, sorry). Which in turn makes me want to see a series starring Erica Durance and Summer Glau, maybe as sisters. Maybe they could guest star on FRINGE.

At last, the question I've longed to have answered for ten years:

Is Tom Welling as completely unconvincing as Superman in a Superman suit as he is in a red hoodie?!

Erica is and will always be My Lois Lane (outside of the comics).
And call me biased, but I would kill for a Lois Lane week.
