Yeah, Roy was kind of a tool before Lian showed up. Also Wally lapped the world several times before Barry was able to catch up to him and calm him down enough to stop.

Meanwhile, the Young Justiceverse continues to be the best current DCU with the addition to another retconned piece of Bat History to their canon. Namely, this.

Yup, in addition to Ted Kord Blue Beetle existed, so did Jason... AND HE'S STILL DEAD!

Review and recap of YJ:I 8 here, Spoilers though, obviously,

I love Wally's villains "from Canada", yeah, Wally, sure...

Also, "the Clock" actually WAS an old villain of Dick's from the Golden Age, I'll see if I can dig out his appearance in the not too distant future (for one reason or another... he said... mysteriously)

Neat, Young Justice is really doing a good job with the DCU history. I'm guessing it's because they're doing a single consistent vision, rather than letting a bunch of guys do their own thing, and also they realize that this is supposed to be a kid friendly property.
I actually don't really have a problem with Jason being alive, it lessens the impact of his death obviously, but I like him as sort of an evil Dick Grayson. I think there was on scene in which it went on about how Bruce attain power by becoming what he feared (bats) and Jason did the same by taking up the Joker's old mantle. A bit on the nose, but I liked it. That said I do prefer Morrison's villainous new wave superhero to the current anti-hero, in concept at least.

And poor Wally, the problems of being friends with a rich kid.

I'd think not having a cool lair would be somewhat offset by being able to run anywhere you want to go in the blink of an eye.

The Flash Museum, of course! Because there's no safer way to store the confiscated weapons and stasis-frozen bodies of your enemies than by putting them on public display, in a building constantly visited by hordes of Flash fans of all ages.

Or you just stash them in one of those eras where everyone worships the Flash as a god.

Yeah, there's not that much reason to have a secret speedster clubhouse, since Flashes are usually extroverts and do most of their socializing while on the run. If Barry and Wally are hanging around in a stationary location instead of jaunting through the Antarctic or the 25th century, it's probably because they're spending time with non-super loved ones, so they might as well be at Iris' house anyway!

I wish we'd gotten more of Jaime and Bart, but otherwise it was a really good episode. Can't wait until the next one, hopefully we get more focus on the new kids.

I did like Jaime mentioning that everyone assumes that he's the OLD Blue Beetle in an ugraded costume, and that the JLA don't have a memorial hall because they don't want people to start thinking of them as mortal.

I like the whole scene until Bats shows up. I don't like how Batman has been turned into this ultra-hard super-powerful guy that younger heroes fear. Yeah, the guy who could disarm, bind, and transport to Kuwait the Batman before he could finish blinking is suddenly terrified? It's just silly.

Sure, Batman should be respected, and his strategic mind is unequalled by anyone in the League, but why someone like Wally, or any other person of his power level, should be literally scared of a guy in a Kevlar bat suit is beyond me.

Would Wally actually know that Bats is basically just "a guy in a Kevlar bat suit," though?

Besides which, Batman's reputation no doubt precedes him... so crazy-prepared that even if Wally could decide to do that stuff-- what happens if he does? How far does he get? What happens after?

And is any of that a risk he wants to take? Especially when he could have words with Wally's "boss," so to speak?

Probably just better to stay on Mr. Batman's good side, complete with "sirs" and "thank yous."

Whilst conceding the general point one has to wonder about that, since Wally is friends with Dick, and Dick would have a much more realistic assessment about Batman than most. The fact that Dick ISN'T afraid of Batman and wouldn't refer to him that way should go some way to allaying Wally's fears.

Some way, sure... but this strikes me as a "my friend's dad" thing, the kind where yeah, sure, Robin isn't bothered by him so much (unless he gets in trouble, maybe) as he lives with him and such, but he's still imposing to others from outside.

Given the way Bart was acting during the memorial service, I suspect he knows that Artemis isn't actually dead.

He's from the FEWTCHA. It's probably a matter of historical record that Artemis Crock survived.

Also, I find it strange that the DC editorial board felt that having an extended hero history and continuity would confuse their 18-35 year old target demographic, while the writers of a show aimed at 12 year olds didn't feel the need to dumb down their universe.

Though I like that he's at college.

How many teenage heroes in the DCU actually go to college now? The only three I can think of are Donna (I think, and who no longer exists anyway), Dick (removed from his history post Crisis on Infinite Earths (aside from a semester which he said he dropped out of) and Wally (See Donna... and who may have dropped out)

Ah yes I forget her because, despite the DCNU i don't view her as a young hero. She was a college graduate for some time before she ever became Batgirl in the continuity I grew up with.

...from coming face-to-chest with Batman?

Also, I love how Robin's acting like he's hot stuff. "Yeah, I got rogues. You?"

There's a Kurt Busiek Superman story which has Nightwing in it where he meets up with a depowered Jason Rusch Firestorm.

As Dick demonstrates that when you can't fly or go intangible and are stuck in a hostile alien spaceship, a good knowledge of air conditioning ducts is essential for any sort of superhero career, he mentions that Batman made sure that he kept up his knowledge of relatively boring matters like structural engineering (Well, boring to him) by making it so that if he didn't pass the tests Batman set him, he didn't get to fight the "cool" supervillains and was stuck with the embarassing ones.

I goddamn SQUEED when I saw that hologram of Jason. Sure, he's dead, but it's nice to see an animated series ACKNOWLEDGE HIS VERY EXISTENCE.

And if he ever showed up as the Red Hood - which I think seems likely considering that we've got other 'rogue' teens like Arsenal showing up - I would die from joy. I really would.

GAAAHHHH
But okay, so wasn't there a scene like this in an old Young Justice comic? I could swear it was drawn differently...
