Two of my favourite artists, Andy Price (on art) and Katie Cook (on writing, though she's a fine artists in her own right... see icon) have a regular gig in the form of the comic version of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (Not something I have been able to get into, but I know it's popular)
Andy felt that since this page had been showcased at this weekends MLP Project event in NYC that it was fair game to post on his DA account.

How many cameo's can YOU spot!
And this won't even be the last cartoon/toy related post I make this weekend!
And also, by Andy, and just for kicks, I saw this on e-bay and thought it both rather cute, and rather accurate!

In the interests of fairness I've linked the image to the auction, and if you have US$ 277.75 to spare, more power to you!:)

Date: 2012-10-15 02:21 pm (UTC)Usually such things are because the trademark on the names have been let lapse (Hence Transformers like "Autobot Jazz" rather than "Jazz" or "Hot Shot" rather than "Hot Rod")

It's rather good, and you can watch it starting here

Date: 2012-10-16 02:53 am (UTC)Just got the motivation together to check, and Hasbro created MLP, rather than licensing them from another company (like they did with Transformers - although the various Transformers trademarks of that era originated with Hasbro, anyway, just not the original toy molds). So all the trademarks were Hasbro's. (But, again, even if it had been licensed, the North American trademarks would still be Hasbro's as per the Transformers.)
The were just really, really bad at maintaining the trademarks from their 80s lines. (Although I don't know anything about GI Joe getting messed up the way Transformers and MLP did.)
