My Little Pony #1 - Walk like a zombie

I've had this comic, wanting to talk about it for like 9 hours now. Why has no one posted it? Anyway, I'll leave a nice full post to one of the MLP dedicated, but I am so I'm impressed i want to share something.

Here is two thirds of a page and half on one panel.



Pinkie and Rainbow are the comic relief.


Those eyes...It is like a 1970s manga with ponies.

It is definitely geared toward an older readership and is crammed with visual jokes for internet audiences, including a rather awesome by "that pony." It wouldn't fail to please a younger audience either, I believe. (I'll be testing that one out soon.)

To add a comment I have seen around, Heather Breckel's coloring is great. One of the last pages with the main villain is just impressive all round.

Sharp dialogue, interesting characters and great art - no, I don't think that it would fail to please a younger audience. Even if they didn't get all the references, the fact that it's a damn good comic (if I do say so myself) should be more then enough to win them over.

This comic reminded me of Bone, or the new Mega Man series - meant for a younger audience, but fun for all ages.

Yeah, I mean, all Disney and Pixar and Dreamworks films have plenty of adult jokes hidden in there but they are definitely for kids.

This is one of the things that really bothers me about the "brony" community: the insistence that they are, in fact, the primary audience for MLP and all those little girls are just accidental.

I consider myself part of that community, and I've never said that, and I don't know anyone who has.

I've seen it all over tumblr, and the various chans. A lot of the criticism of the crystal ponies episodes hinged on "But it was too simple! They KNOW they're writing for ADULTS like MEEEEEE!"

What a weird thing to get obsessive about... nearly all the best kids shows I can think of write at multiple levels and are so much the better for it.

That is not an exaggeration. Tumblr, 4chan, MLP fansites. The callousness some bronies have towards little girls is shocking.

See, I'd love to make a full post about this issue, but I buy all my comics online now, and if there's a way to post pages here from a digital copy, I haven't figured it out yet.

Seeing how it's been a whole day, please by all means do make a full post, because I, at least cannot do that, and I'd really like to talk about it.

Best way to probably do it is to do the "print screen" button when on the page, and then copying/pasting it into paint and then cropping it to whatever you want to post.

Hmmmmm...

How about the fight scene between the mane 6 and the changelings? That was both action-y and very funny. And the part where the Queen reveals her hostages, mostly because of how totally exasperated she was of the kids already.

There was also the scene where a changeling takes the place of a certain grey Pegasus, and the Queen's intro page had some sweet art, and-

and I'm gonna stop myself before I cave and start saying "just do the whole thing, damnit!"

When I decide to post some on tumblr and starts scanning...I found I ended up scanning 27 of the 32 pages because I just could decide what I wanted to share most.

I haven't had this much glee with a new comic in a long time.
