"To me, the fun of writing any team book is seeing how its members react to one another in the non-action moments. What happens when you strand these two on a desert island? What about when you take these three, who’ve never shared page-time before, and send them on a do-or-die mission?" -- Mark Waid

That's actually a really interesting perspective on the secret identity revelation that I had never thought of. It does really put a lot of pressure on the other party in that situation, doesn't it?

Freaking Mark Waid. Everything he does makes me feel like an idiot for not thinking of it sooner.

Secret Identity reveal as that awkward moment when you first say "I love you". Of course. It so obvious in hindsight.

It is obvious if you've read Spider-Man loves Mary Jane

If i have a complain with this first issue is that we didn't get all the team members yet (then again, considering "Justice League" took it's sweet ass time to introduce the characters in it's introductory arc, i guess having five out of seven already is a plus...)

That was my main issue with the comic (and the fact that it felt like it didn't really get going) as well, but otherwise... pretty damn good. Easily the best team book Marvel has put out so far.

So one thing about this group of Avengers...is there no age limit for avengers? I always though avenger age was about 18+, but this is the first time I have seen so many avengers on the team that are teens? I mean I know there have been teens, but usually they were Young Avengers, then became Avengers.

There used to be. That's why a couple of characters got pushed into the New Warriors back in the day. But that was twenty years ago (our time). So I guess the new writer can do things differently now.

I have the feeling, since this is Mark "I bassically codified Legacy Characters" Waid, that this comic will deal heavily with the concept of "Legacy" and Kamala and the rest are part of that. After all, the only member who is (to aovid the word original) a "first generation" character, is TOny Stark

Vision, too

Actually, Vision has a "Jay Garrick/Barry Allen" thing going on.

But as far as I know there's only the one Vision out there right now, plus his family. If this is Jonas or Viv or Vin, I haven't heard anything to tell me

There was a "Golden Age"vision that appeared in the comics. Vision has ties to the original Human Torch, etc.

I guess after the Academy kids got dragged to Murderworld because the main team fucking sucked at keeping tabs on the kids they were responsible for they decided to bring the junior members in-house.

The artist on this is so good! But I need to spend less money on comics!

I may have to wait on the trade.

you know, I'm sure I'm going to get bashed for this, but I'm tired of the guy always being the one who has to learn a lesson about behaving with others

I like this. But she honestly comes off as rude, she could have said, 'nice to meet you, but I've gotta keep this secret a secret' and called it a night.

It reminds me of introverts on tumblr mistaking their generally abrasive attitude for just being 'shy'. That being said, I love this back and forth and its fun to read.
