On one level, I kind of conceived this as a potential last hurrah for Nick Fury. This wasn't part of the brief, it was more a case of me going like, well... Because of one of the things I don't like about the convoluted nature of Nick Fury is that, okay, we've introduced his son and then we're sort of leaving his son on the shelf a little bit all the time because people are kind of still very much in love with the original Nick Fury. So you end up with this kind of weird situation where they're BOTH on the shelf. -- Al Ewing

"People don't want you to just do karaoke. People want you to put your own unique signature on a series. You know, you look at what Scott Snyder did with Batman. The reason I think that people leaned into that is because he did something unique in making Gotham the main character. That was sort of his thesis. Tom King, his signature on Batman has been, he leaned into the everyman. He brought him down to earth and tried to make him, you know, a dude who’s struggling with some issues and, as Tom always says, “looking sadly out at rain out of windows” and going on dates with Catwoman and everything else. He sort of took all the theatrical stuff that’s the reason most people go to Batman and then he subdued it all, and just found the ordinary amidst the extraordinary. So when you’re talking about Wolverine, you find your truth. I’m trying to do the same thing." - Benjamin Percy

"When we were talking about the Quiet Council - and who might be on it - Logan’s name came up. And was almost immediately dismissed - because this is not a guy who will sit on a committee and listen to divergent opinions and offer compromise. In other words, he does - and does not - fit into the plan." - Benjamin Percy

"The mutants have declared sovereignty. Krakoa is now not just a nation but a sanctuary. So Logan, like most of the mutants, has never been better, happier (and I know very well that happiness is not a word often associated with Wolverine)." - Benjamin Percy
