Tony: Carol, look what you made me do!
Carol: Tony, you have a giant ego!

And I want to sigh sadly.

1: Magik is on Carol's side?

2: Oh hey this is totally not catching on the buzz the Captain American Civil War movie got at all. >_>

He ducked out to France to avoid taking sides in the first Civil War. Why on God's Green Earth would he join in on Part 2: We Learned Nothing?

Also, why is Luke Cage there? Didn't he and Iron Fist specifically say they weren't getting involved this time?

I suspect that a lot of the tie-in comics were ignored, and at least half the lineup on each side was done by names out of a hat.

Sadly, that makes all too much sense. :(

My friend at the comic book store said sales of Civil War II are abysmal, and no comics with CWII tie ins spread across their colors like a rash are selling any better. I wonder if this might be the death knell of the Event Comic?

A man can dream...

and to that you add the delays and extra issues being made and... yeah, this is probably not going to be a succesful event...

I can honestly see Angela being all "Fight! Hot damn!" and flipping a coin to see which side she beats up on.

Okay... Carol... Have you actually disproven his theory of Ulysses powers being not trustworthy? Because if you insisted on going forward after that, well...

Oh, not only has she not disproven it, she's doubled down on the 'her way or the highway' rhetoric when faced with clear evidence that Tony is right. She detained a woman based on Ulysses having a vision of her being a Hydra agent, but then no corroborating evidence whatsoever turned up even when SHIELD went through her life with a fine-toothed comb. So Carol decided the proper course of action was to detain the woman indefinitely as a terrorist until such time as evidence proving her guilty showed up. Tony and company figured what Carol was doing to this woman is Maria Hill levels of Authoritarian Bullshit, and showed up to free her. Thus, this fight happens.

So yeah, I'm finding it pretty to have any sympathy for Carol's side at all in this fight.

Now now, Carol's done some nasty stuff, but we don't know she would have detained that woman indefinitely. She just hadn't given up looking for evidence yet. If she continued to be unable to turn any up, then she might very well have let the woman go.

She does tell the woman she can detain her indefinitely, but you can read that as an interrogation scare tactic, like you see on cop shows all the time.

but to bring in my original point... the reason she arrested the woman at all (Ulysses Prediciton) has become unreliable, not because TOny made a solid theory on why it isn't, but because someone Carol trusted said the numbers were solid.
and to bring in the cop shows... aren't they usually criticized because they tend to portray the suspects who want their rights respected (call in a lawyer, wanting to be released, etc) demonized? not to mention said scare tactics have been known to have the suspect make a false confession in the hopes the torment end (further more, Carol's "she may be a sleeping agent" sounds more like her going into full-on paranoia and conspiracy theory territory)

True, and it's all sorts of messed up. But to be fair, the woman's only been taken in for questioning so far. They haven't actually charged her with anything, right?

"and to bring in the cop shows... aren't they usually criticized because they tend to portray the suspects who want their rights respected (call in a lawyer, wanting to be released, etc) demonized? not to mention said scare tactics have been known to have the suspect make a false confession in the hopes the torment end.'

Good point. Though in the real world, lying to a suspect (within certain bounds) to try to get a confession (e.g. "We already have evidence so you might as well confess.") isn't illegal.

Can you blame him? last time he was in one of these it ended with him bargaining his marriage away to the Devil.

He probably took one look at this and was like "You know what I'm good. Call me when you two are ready to act like grown ups again".

Looking at the full preview on Comic Book Resources, I am a bit annoyed by the waste of two pages before we even get to a double page spread. A page with just the number 5 on it and Tony's head from last issue on it and then a page about some rich uptight brats. Great use of pages!

So what happened to all the developments in Angela's own series? The new armor, becoming Queen of Hel, etc.? I notice she's back in her old costume here. Did GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY address any of this?

Y'know, if I looked at the opposition and saw that Steve Rogers (presumably suppressing his urge to click his heels together and salute here like Inspector Kemp in Young Frankenstein), Sam Wilson, the new Thor, and Dr. Strange all agreed that I was in the wrong while Venom and Weeaboo Devil GirlMagick were on my side, I might take a step back and re-evaluate my methods.
