How else can you have drama in a world surrounded by relentless enemies and limited resources?

Human drama has always been at the forefront. Zombies by themselves can only do so much.

"Safest night on the road", he's emotionally shaken due to failing to do his watchdog job and almost killing them all, and on top of that, being saved by the guy whom he cheated (something that he clearly was already feeling guilty about). Seems like a plausible moment for me.
