Okay... I like this twist. It does nicely explain how he was able to enter the fortress so easily (he knows the tech even better than Clark, if not downright invented some of it) and explains why he seemed so interested in Clark (it doesn't explain Tim, though... he was the one who took Tim, right?). Some stories have suggested that Jor-El's original plan was less Clark living among humans and more to live like a king, so having him be something in the middle (He thought Earth was a good place, but now he changed his mind) I can take.
Also, he is not Ozymandias with superpowers, which i liked a lot less than the idea of Dr. Manhattan.
