See, if only G.I. Max had been a ninja. Then he could've shrugged off those bullets easily, or just used some secret mystique ninja technique to heal himself. You know, from being shot in the throat.
Interesting bit from Cap with the "good soldiers follow orders" line given we're just around the corner here from the start of The Captain. You know, when he quits being Captain America because he doesn't think he can in good conscience follow the government's orders. (And not because it'd mean taking orders from Val Cooper, who has never made a correct decision in her life.)
Meanwhile, from here, Sharon Carter goes off to Fantastic Four. To be written by Steve Englehart.
"Well, with Thing cancelled this new Ms. Marvel needs to go somewhere. Anyone want a crack at her?" "Oh! Oh-oh-oh-oh-ooooh!" "... anyone besides Steve? Seriously? Anyone?" "Please! Please oh please let meeeee!" "Chris, I'm looking in your direction. Stop hiding behind that encyclopaedia of Australia. No? Really? Alright. Fine. Since it seems literally no-one else here wants her..."
Death might've been kinder. And, frankly, still on brand for a Ms. Marvel.
"Oh for cripes' sake" is exactly the right reaction to accidentally shooting your own gengineered hero-killer while trying to kill the hero yourself. Well, that or something stronger, but the Comics Code was still a thing at this point.
That thuddingly obvious thought balloon could be purposeful understatement - but the first panel of that page has Lynch superfluously spelling out his motivation, so it's hard to credit Gruenwald (or anyone in the process who saw that balloon and didn't cut it) with notable storytelling ability.
Nice to see continuity like this, with the mentions of events in Daredevil and The Thing. Characters actually remembering events that happened to them in other titles and being affected by it, but without making it essential for the reader to buy the other titles to know what was going on, is almost something of a lost art these days.

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
