I appreciate Herman. He tries and he never becomes TOO revenge obsessed. That's never a good work method. It's what turned Norman from a would-be crime lord to a cackling lunatic.

He's always been my favorite c-list villain. He's just the right combination of threatening and goofy.

Invented device to crack safes? Brilliant.

Said device is so loud and prone to collateral damage that he might as well just use explosives? Stupid.

Attacking Spider-Man with a glorified vibrator? Balls of steel.

Well, he did invent it while attempting to escape from prison. He needed to blow open a wall. He needed to use mattress foam to...you know...not die from it.

My dad had this original issue! Great bit between Peter and JJJ haggling over money on photos.

"Money? Don't you trust me, Parker?"

Shocker takes getting his ass beat and then having photos of his ass beating taken a lot better than I would.

Its 100% understandable why so many of Parker's villains turn into obsessive weirdos.

That may be the first Spider-Man story I've read.
I'm not sure because I don't own the magazine in which in was published anymore, but it was an old story with the Shocker, so that's a safe bet.
