When is this set, with Sarya being from the Legion of Super-Heroes time and all?
Also, when was she a slave, Sarya was a full blown pirate queen and criminal before she found the Eye.
Even the Zero Hour version was a warrior who had trained herself to kill pretty much any known form of life, and unarmed or with, at most, a blade.
Also, I've not been following the series, so why does someone named Duke Pharos seem to be the main character?
And, I'm probably being too old school here, but I wish they'd stop trying to EXPLAIN things. The Emerald Eye is the Emerald Eye, it doesn't NEED to be belong to a convenient alien.
An origin story in the length and breadth of three panels. The Silver Age did not beat about the bush... (Liking her confident leap of logic from "melts steel" to "it will do whatever I wish!" So long as her ambitions are to put all steel workers out of a job, then, sure.)
Presumably it's a modern day Emerald Empress, like how there was that modern day Phantom Girl running around a few years back.
My mistake. I look back and look. This is suppose to be Emerald Empress/Falyce. Who was in was the Pre-Zero Hour era. She first shown up in Legion of Super-Heroes Annual Vol 6 #1 (February, 2011).
Falyce of Orando is the third Emerald Empress, serving the Emerald Eye of Ekron.
On Orando, Falyce was fleeing for her life from a sadistic Duke, who apparently enjoyed torturing and murdering his mistresses. Injured and blinded in one eye, Falyce stumbled into the ruins of a cursed temple and wished that she had the power to stop her tormentor. This awakened the Emerald Eye of Ekron, which had been lying dormant underneath the temple, and Falyce instantly bonded with it. She then killed Pharos. He is just a torment memory for Falyce.
In the Zod series. After his Wife was killed by the Khund .Zod destroy the planet, he was living with his family and went to the Khund space ship. Zod He Zod snaps awake strapped to a bed in a medical bay. Zod flies down to the engine core and destroys it with his heat vision. Zod survives but is severely wounded, his skin burned completely away. He drifts unconscious in space until he is picked up by another ship. In the next issue. He heals after a few days and then breaks free of his restraints and took over a prison ship.
Fairly certain the Empress didn't somehow say "eye" instead of "I". Not that you'd be able to tell in spoken word...so I don't get why they do this with Brother Eye, let alone her.
