In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

President Biden has granted a pardon to his son Hunter, which he had previously said he would not do, and I suspect he would not have done had the Democrats won, but given Trump has just nominated someone he pardoned (for fraud and witness tampering) to become the new US Ambassador to France (and who happens to be his son-in-laws father) I'm not sure there's much of a counter-argument.

We note the passing of Morgan Lofting, a name you might not recognise but who I suspect, amongst many other roles, was the cause of any number of adolescent... realisations as the stern, bespectacled, leather-clad Baroness on the original GI Joe cartoon.

An article I found, and if I have to live with knowing this is an article which exists, so do you, about the making of the American phenomenon; the Folgers Incest Coffee Ad

Slightly on topic, but DC Infinite is opening up to France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Just before Christmas, the BBC will release a new edit of "The War Games", coloured and trimmed down from 10 episodes to 90 minutes. It's especially notable for being the last Second Doctor story (as well as the final story to feature Jamie and Zoe as companions), and introduces the Time Lords as the Doctor's people for the first time. It was famously still being written as it was filmed, so there is plenty of padding that can be trimmed, but even some, from somewhere over four hours to a hour and a half should be interesting.

The first two episodes of "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" has arrived on Disney+.

The Beeb announcement had some headlines about how they'd discovered new footage of some old Who.
Turned out when they said "discovered" they meant "made some up".

All the drip-filtered news about this year's Who X-Mas special fills me with an increasing amount of dread. And there was already enough of that to go on with.
Moffat trying to be intentionally light and fluffy, and another "what's the Doctor like when no-one's around".
Which, given who's writing it, I'mma assume is "the same as they always are when Moffat writes them".

But the highlight of December 25th is more likely going to be Wallace & Gromit.

Got that Epic Collection of Streets of Poison. (Really sounds like an 80s metal song, doesn't it?)
That was quite nuts.

Also got bored waiting for a train and just bought The Crossing Line.
Fun little crossover between Avengers, Alpha Flight and Whatever-The-Russian-Ones-Are-Calling-Themselves-This-Week.
It's odd for a filler storyline to last for six issues, though.

Still no sign of The Gift anywhere. That might require a trip further afield.

Streets of Poison is indeed nuts, and that is why I love it.

It shows you the quality of the Avengers at the time when the filler is better than the main story.

Excited for the new Wallace and Gromit, but I'm not sure how I feel about the new Wallace voice.

I wasn't aware he had been in the role that long.

Streets of Poison is... very early 90s.
Not saying it's not fun, but I could've very easily done without the sight of Red Skull and Kingpin in their skivvies.
