Yep, it’s another Marrina runs amok story.

Later, the Avengers attend a party being held for them by the city of New York.

I’m getting vibes of that scene from the Venom movie with the lobster tank.

This subplot is the beginning of the Ravonna pretending to be Nebula pretending to be a Kang arc.

Date: 2024-12-04 03:56 pm (UTC)... it's not at Avengers Disassembled's level of mean-spirited cruelty, but it's a rough read regardless.
(I know shoving Monica onto the bus was part of the plan, but what about Marrina? Or was that a Killing Joke thing? "Do what you want, just get rid of her." "Uh... okay...")
Can't hold it against Simonson, though, given this was editorial all the way making it a case of "if you don't, someone will."
And frankly, not sure there's anyone who could've made it any better.
(It's also odd that he did this arc, an annual, then Inferno and then that was it. This was a really weird period for Avengers, and that's just looking back on it with the perspective of someone who wasn't there for it.)
Poor Marrina...
