Nico joins the Amazing Friends? That's kind of coming from the left field, yes?

Probably a case of trying to find a POC/Asian character in the allowed characters for Peter to be friends with.

Not complaining — Nico is an underrated character and there’s barely any significant Asian representation in Spider-Man (or comics for that matter). At least they’re giving her a big role as one of what will probably be one Peter’s closest friends.

I know nothing about this upcoming series, but I'm a little surprised they didn't slot Cindy Moon/Silk into the role if they wanted a specific Asian/Asian-American female for the best friend. I guess maybe she's tied up with the rest of the ancillary Spider-characters? (Survey says... she seems to be tied up in several other live action and/or animated projects so I guess she's off limits.) But then again, who even knows.

Nico's a cool character but it'll be interesting to see how she's handled here. Both as a magician and as a queer character in other portrayals.

They probably didn't want to use another spider-based character. I'm sure Miles is included. Maybe even Spider-Gwen. Don't want to go overboard from the start.

The "Peter must be a child no matter what point in time this is set in" reflex Marvel has is so weird.

It's when it's "Peter must act like a child even when he's an adult" that it gets unnerving.
