I spotted your Doctor Who reference, and for some reason it reminds me of an earlier time the premise of "devoted AI from a space vessel moves into a humanoid body and causes emotional issues for its beloved human" turned up in comics in a Star-Lord story by Claremont and Infantino. There's at least one prior example of a computer intelligence moving into a human body in prose science fiction, in a novel by Robert Heinlein. Either the Heinlein book or the Claremont story could well have inspired Nicieza here.
