Thundercracker has been showing some doubt in the Decepticon cause recently, unwilling to indulge in the slaughter of innocents that his comrades revel in. Now, he is part of Soundwave's forces as the Decepticons fight a civil war of their own...

Thundercracker stealing Starscream's remote control was one of my favorite bits from this issue.

I still think that the art could be a lot cleaner and easier to distinguish what's going on.

Seconding the sentiment as far as the art goes: the subject material has, I think, an inherent need to be clean, cartoony, and instantly legible. Some of these panels look like random jumbles of LEGO blocks that need to be tossed in the toy chest.

I really, really miss Alex Milne and Jack Lawrence, from the MTMTE/Lost Light era of IDW. For the most part, crisp, clean art where you could identify even the most obscure of characters in a crowd.

This is just... well, it's energetic, yes. But just so -messy-.

who was Astrotrain in love with?

This is the first we've heard of his love, so all we can confirm right now is that it's none of the characters we've seen alive thus far! Maybe some other transformer that converts into a train, maybe a fellow triple-changer, maybe someone completely different from him! All guesses are valid!

I feel like I'm against the tide here in that I really love the art here. It reminds me of Dan Reed in the Marvel UK title, which was so different to anything else in the book at the time and I always found really expressive.

Yeah, I don't see how anything is hard to follow here, myself. The backgrounds are distinctly coloured form the characters so that they stand out well.
