Issue #1'd had three-years-in Batman identifying the killer, who'd started with a lawyer and continued with those the lawyer's work'd touched.

Issue #2 opened on Batman explaining what he'd deduced to Jim Gordon.

" .. you know who he's going after next. "

Batman didn't trust any other alternative, like expecting Gotham's new coroner (" The fool pathologist with the formaldehyde habit. ") to figure anything from the victims so far.

" Or they're covering something up. "

Batman swung off.

' There is another fire tonight in Gotham City. Smoke rises somewhere in the vicinity of Gotham General Hospital. '

' And I am standing here on a rooftop, watching a man attempt to drink himself to death. '

Batman was keeping an eye on the Wound Man's next likely target.

" Let me feel them with you. "

It wasn't Jones he met in the apartment - it was Batman who met him.

" Don't make me hurt you. "

" Hurt me? "

' I didn't want it to come to this. '

(This is Batman's workaround for ' If I fistfight him, one of his body piercings might be jostled and he'll die from internal injuries. ')

(Love how the Wound Man broke his fall to avoid jostling his body piercings.)

Batman ran out with the Wound Man - brushing past a drunk Jones staggering back in.

Reluctantly, Batman went to Gotham's new coroner Dr. Sereika - who was on the ball enough to get the Wound Man's heart restarted.

He next visited someone who at least didn't seem as unreliable - journalist Nicky Harris, whom he'd received info from before.

" Anesthetics. Or nerve agents, perhaps. "

Meanwhile, the Wound Man was awake and listening to Sereika.

" There's a reason they say doctors make the worst patients. " went Sereika.

" We like to think we're always objective. "

Sereika went on - the first Gordon heard of the Wound Man's capture was when Batman called to ask an update on him.

Gordon was walking into a meeting with Gotham's mayor - he took the opportunity to let him know about the serial killer's capture.

(" Axis Chemicals " was where the Joker took his dip in the 1989 Batman movie.

Its name's been partially borrowed here for an umbrella under which Ace Chemicals and another company that will be known for chemical products with awful effects on the human body sit.

Christopher's probably meant to be Roman's uncle.)

After calling Gordon, Batman'd left Gotham City for ' the planned community of Green Fields, which last year the tabloids dubbed the Town Without Screams. '

It bore out Harris' theory about Ace Chemicals' disposal of its product - it was a place that'd made ' A few calls for help which went ignored.

The issue ended on thugs breaking into Dr. Sereika's.

After knocking him out, they took the Wound Man away - at whose behest, you can guess.
