I know he and Doom have a history but I'm not sure Arcade would have made the cut if I were assembling an Anti-Doom Villain Squad. Best case scenario, he cares about amusing himself and his own twisted concept of fair play more than the mission.

Mysterio is a bit surprising.

Mysterio strikes me as a really good choice for this case. Doom is fighting a PR offensive against the heroes, anticipating how they'll react and spinning things in his favor. That's Quentin's field.

Arcade can strike a match off Doom's armour and the good doctor will be so paralyzed with rage at this effrontery that the other's can just mob him.

Better question is why isn't everyone, heroes and villains both, dogpiling on the kid killer?

...I'm willing to bet that at least ONE of them is working for Doom, planning on revealing this alliance to further damage the heroes' reputations. Probably Arcade.

M.O.D.O.K. is looking...better.

And what does Carol mean by "Poor Ben..."? Like this isn't a thing he has been wanting since day one as The Thing.

Character growth means he's finally gotten over resenting being The Thing. He has a loving wife, two adoring kids, a very good dog, and he's a beloved superhero.

MODOK seems to be suffering from MCU synergy with that design, even though no one wants to remember Quantumania happened.

I still am surprised anyone's letting Arcade run around free after the whole Avengers Arena/Undercover thing. Or like... for any reason.

Yeah, I figured...but it was just in the last Venom comic that we saw MODOK with his usual wrinkly face and razor sharp teeth. He was complaining about the discomfort of shooting mind blasts out his nose. I mean, just look at him here. Who combed his hair? Obviously he couldn't do it. And MODOK saying, "Heya" doesn't seem right either.

Come to think of it, why do they have Arcade AND Mysterio? You really only need Mysterio...and even he's stretching it.

A few make sense.

Arcade: History with Doom and his own mastery of robotics is handy.

Octopus: Obvious genius and hey, knows exactly how someone with a huge ego operates

Mordo: Two-fold: He wants the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme himself and succeeding where Strange failed.

Mysterio: Likely pushed by Ocotopus on how his illusions are key to any plan.

Goblin Queen: All the magical help they can get.

MODOK: offbeat but works in via tech savvy.

Arcade makes no sense, IMO.

He's not really a robot expert, just a rich kid with a lot of money. Unless Doom agrees to walk into a Murder World, he's not going to be of much use.

And hell, given what he did in Avengers Arena, Carol should be tearing his head off.

If I were putting the team together I'd have chosen Kaluu over Mordo. More powerful, more competent, much less likely to betray the team in a crucial moment, and was already a member of an Avengers team.

Then again, he may have passed and suggested Mordo to Carol as a patsyreplacement.

... starting to think maybe Doom should've been retired after Secret Wars, or after Infamous Iron Man.
Not wholeheartedly yet, more in a vague way.
Don't know. If it was Doom doing it because he was legitimately trying to do good and just having absolutely no idea how to go about doing that, that'd be different.
Riffing on Zemo's schtick, sure, but since he's not used it for a while, might as well let someone else try.

(Actually, if it turned out this crossover was like Civil War II and North had impositions and restrictions from higher-up, wouldn't exactly be a surprise.)


I'm sure this decision of Carol's will not in any way turn out to be disastrous.
But she might want to check the minutes, because they'll probably point to her like a giant neon sign saying "HER FAULT".
(Summer events are hardly ever kind to Carol.)
