Comic books are weird.

Joss Whedon wrote a story like this for GIANT-SIZED X-MEN #3. There was some stuff like "Why is Kurt still wearing his circus costume?"

As much as I love Cyclops getting a dub, [particularly against Storm because they keep feeding him to her, this feels like too much. Proudstar sounds like Krillian against Frieza.

(So, just skipping the late 90s. Well, who wouldn't?
... actually, going by the timeline, how old would Kamala even have been post-Decimation? Really early teens?)

... I'm not sure Ororo really counts as a refugee. When Professor X found her she was pretty comfortably being treated like a god in Kenya, which she traveled to of her own free will because she thought it was her destiny.
She wasn't really fleeing from anything specific, unless you count being a thief on the streets of Cairo.

(Also pretty sure calling Sean a cad is unfair. What's he done that was so caddish?)

The way the basketball pole suddenly appears in one panel made me think this was going to be a fakeout and he'd say, "Come on and slam, and welcome to the jam, X-Men."
