In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.
The intent of these posts is to chat, have some fun and vent as necessary.
Normal board rules about conduct and behavior still apply, of course, so think twice before posting something that might cross a line, as always.

I spent the past week at a forced company retreat and won an umbrella for being on the best puzzle team. Top that, if you can!

It has become apparent that the moon of Earth is covered in microscopic orange beads made of volcanic glass. Do with this what you will.

A new electric engine has been approved for mass-production in the UK that can charge fully in 18 seconds. I have yet to find any information on whether or not it is repairable or recyclable. In any case, I would still maintain the better path for a cleaner future is to reduce the need for roads and cars in the first place.

Date: 2025-06-17 03:04 pm (UTC)I have Juneteenth off, that's nice.
Marvel Puzzlequest: New chase character is Enigma, another one I'm unfamiliar with.
Over at my blog, I look at a book about horror movies, and hint about what I'd like for my birthday. https://www.skjam.com/2025/06/17/book-review-transgressive-horror-resurrected/

Date: 2025-06-17 03:04 pm (UTC)Looking forward to this week being colder than the last. Not used to 20+ celsius yet, after a cooler spring.

Date: 2025-06-17 03:16 pm (UTC)Oooh, and I managed to snag a seat into trying out the RPG based on the Untitled Goose Game! Plus, it's now year one of the new 12yr 7th Sea Living Campaign...

Date: 2025-06-17 03:52 pm (UTC)The after-lunch... nnnyeah... not so successful.
Not just because there's that one family member nobody wants because they're going to be a total arse (raising the question never answered of why, then, they stupid enough to invite them if they didn't even want them there.)
The after-after party was fine. If crowded.
Good to discover there are distant members of the family who are nice loonies.
Summer heatwave. And also so many ants everywhere.
Ants which are annoyingly resistant to attempts to get rid of them.
"Ooh, I'm not eating that. It'll give me bloat."
(Shame can't get an anteater, but that might be a touch of an own goal.)
Otherwise, all quiet.
Still no sign of what's in this Ultimate Hawkeye.
Ultimate Black Panther has the big reveal that had been kind of obvious from Day 1.
Also, that dude who calls himself 'Killmonger'? Has some suspect ideas on foreign and domestic policy.

Date: 2025-06-17 09:39 pm (UTC)Alright I didn't find it particularly funny, but I did feel bad for the people stuck in the evil game shows.
There was a moment when the Doctor learnt that the terrible future was the result of the societal collapse he caused in a previous episode, since he fucked off at the end of that adventure and just assumed things would fix themselves.
That seems like an interesting idea, but he realizes it's the result of a Secret Mastermind.
Speaking of the Secret Mastermind it's a real shame the teaser last time spoiled the fact that it was the Daleks.
Especially since they only show up in the last five minutes. They had plenty of non-Dalek footage they could have used.
If I know anything about Expanded Universes, the adventure in Kyoto in 1313 the Doctor talks about here, has to have formed the basis of a book, comic or audio drama.
You know rewatching Avatar The Last Airbender, I think to myself 'Wow this is better than the live action show in every way'
I am also picking up on some of the finer details they choose to include in that version, or at least decided to awkwardly merge together to the detriment of the story they were trying to tell
Read The Longbow Hunter. It's the second Green Arrow story I've read. It wasn't a bad story but trying to make him a gritty and grounded character is a bit silly. And without the fancy trick arrows he's just shooting people with arrows.

Date: 2025-06-17 10:01 pm (UTC)Had an eye exam this morning, and found out part of my problem with small text is that my replacement retinas, which are geared for far-sightedness, are so powerful that my up-close vision suffers. That's a new one...
Being bored this weekend and getting tired of reading Green Lantern compilations off Comixology Unlimited, found a graphic novel called "Superman: The Harvests of Youth" by Sina Grace. I really enjoyed reading it, seeing as it focused on a teenaged Clark Kent and his circle of friends dealing with a suicide and a group of bitter young men--oh, and Lex too of course.
I did chuckle when some of Clark's friends complained that his compassion and caring occasionally drives them up the wall. :)
