Also, a Steve explicitly deferring to others is a little more novel than it should be - that's not to say he's been the opposite of that, but he has tended to be written as the last word in a lot of discussions because he's a heroic Wears A National Symbol guy.

He's a good man, an exemplary one at times, but there's a lot of rooms where he's never been the only such.

(Sometimes, you wish that Mark Gruenwald hadn't done quite so much " Steve is a moderate in a world of extremists ".)

You can tell it's an alternate universe because when Reed Richards and Tony Stark are called out for something they concede the point, rather than stubbornly insisting they're smarter than everyone else and therefore know better.

I mean, Peter feels like an empty hollow directionless and motivationless version of his old self and I don't think MJ actually has a personality other than agreeing with whatever Peter wants, but hey... married!

I'd say MJ not having much definable personality is more because of Hickman's... well, I was gonna be polite, but sod it, deficiencies as a writer; he bad at writing women, particularly with agency.
(Not entirely sure when Gwen falls on that one. She is doing stuff... but she was brought into it by her dad and everyone she's working with is a bloke, so... borderline? At best?)

And given how few marriages there are in comics at all, if this is what there is, then I'll take it, regardless of how it was reached.
