Damn, I learnt about the death of Crimebuster on wiki, but had no idea it happened in a Rom comics.
The FF/Xandar story is something I enjoyed in my early years of comics reading, which makes me feel nostalgic everytime I see those characters. Always found Comet and Crimebuster really cool. The Champions of Xandar deserved better.

Welp, reader, you didn't read enough Nova, so now Rich gets depowered, shipped back to Earth and forced to live with his horrible father.
(While Mr. Rider is not the worst parent in Marvel - looking at you, Mr. Astrovik - he's still low-level shoddy, and making Rich go back to him doesn't seem like the happiest ending.)


We've had about twenty-four issues of Rom being pretty emphatic that he does not kill under any circumstances whatsoever (bar accidents with big rocks).
So, uh... guess those Skrulls survive him blasting holes through their torsos?

And I was wondering why that happened to Nova here, rather than his own book. Guess now I know.

I’ve always found it so weird that they depowered Nova and took him off the table entirely, rather than just letting him lurk around the background of the universe for the occasional “is he still popular” guest shot.

Then again, I’m not sure of the timeline on this vs Frankie Ray becoming Galactus’s herald.

This issue was released in August 1981. Frankie Raye became Nova in April 1982.

Hmm. Close enough, depending on the writing lead time, to be related then, but that's pure speculation.
