"I think her proposal's worth exploring." *everyone stares at Alicia* "AAHHHH! IT'S LYJA! ALICIA'S BEEN REPLACED WITH LYJA AGAIN!" "... I'm not Lyja, Johnny." "That's just the sort of thing you would say, Lyja!" "Right, no more coffee fer Matchstick..."
"You took down Doctor Doom", she says. I mean, maybe it's just from reading a few scans here rather than the whole thing cover to cover, but it looked an awful lot like Doctor Doom and his own decisions took down Doctor Doom more than anything Maria did.
Oh, hey, Ben and Alicia's adopted kids are back. Good-o.
"Everyone was talking about the 'brainwash the supervillains and move 'em to a big farm upstate' plan in theory, but guess WHO had the stones to put into practice? Yours truly, that's who!"
I am, shall we say, extremely skeptical that Sue or Johnny could do anything that would destroy the world. Unless maybe making Franklin mad at it counts, I guess. Their powers are formidable, but just don't operate with that kind of scope.
Reed, yeah, he probably has a collection of doomsday devices like Professor Farnsworth.
Ryan North's version of the FF tend to be more powerful than their standard version. Reed can sprout extra limbs or even extra heads, whereas Sue's invisibility is basically control over all light. Maria Hill first started taking an interest after Sue plunged a three-state area into perpetual night for 72 hours (it was the only way to stop an invasive interdimensional algae).
She shouldn't have control over light so much as being able to bend the light around something. It would require the creation of a MASSIVE bubble and then sustain it for 72 hours, preventing any breaches. ...which, in theory, would mean she couldn't sleep during that period once.
In issue 6 of the previous volume, she makes sunlight itself invisible, and that's where Maria Hill first takes note.
She had to fly into space and concentrate hard, so it's not as if she can casually destroy the Earth. When Maria Hill is accusing the FF of being able to destroy the planet, it's not something they can do repeatedly. I imagine it would go as well for Sue as it did for her movie counterpart fighting Galactus.
...that makes no sense. How can she make light invisible? It's light! It's the very thing her that bends around her fields in order to render whatever is wrapped in them invisible. She would have to render the entire sun invisible to get it all.
Sue can affect energy fields with her powers too (she did it with Terrax's power in FF #242), so I suppose she'd be technically turning the sun's visible light invisible. I could see her doing that across a city for a while, but not planetwide.
Also the other Watchers pooh-pooed Nick about his pooh-pooing the Prime Directive. So they probably were just glad to be rid of him before they had to disband the entire regiment.
Yeah, but by then he had resorted to LMDs since the formula wasn't around. Or maybe it just stopped working on him. And I'm pretty sure he's been released from that role, no longer bound to the moon or to Uatu.
