Since my usual inspirational blond twink hero is currently pursuing an alternate career path as a genocidal glam rocker, I have to revert to my default sunshine boy.
So, I love that the comics have played up that Luke Skywalker is trusting and optimistic, but not a completely clueless idiot.
He trusts, and he believes in the inherent goodness of people, but he's not entirely gullible.
Case in point, Warba Calip, a Force sensitive from Jedha, who Luke met whilst on a mission to a desert planet, and who he believed could train him further in the Force.
From Star Wars #71, written by Greg Pak, with gorgeous art from Phil Noto, who really amps up the pretty!

No where have we heard THAT before?

Turns out Warba had lived near the Temple of the Kyber and could remember something the Guardians of the Whills had said a LOT!
And so she teaches Luke that mantra, and... well...

The frustrating little shit makes it WORK for him the very first time! (this is pre his Yoda training in Empire too).
But.. as it turns out, Warba was secretly more interested in stealing Luke's lightsabre all along.
The original plan was to distract him with some Jedi hokum she vaguely remembered, wait for the Imperials to kill him and then pick up the lightsabre.
But he saved her a job by dropping it whilst on his way to meet his maker!

Simple really? I mean what could go wrong?

I mean, the SWAG in this little shit is off the charts!
And he's so sincerely HAPPY about it all too!

I mean, he's just so goddam adorable! At this point he's basically 1/3 farmboy, 1/3 Jedi in training and 2/3 Golden Retreiver, and yes I know that 4/3 of a person, but I stand by it.
But he'd be SO frustrating to those who who are more cynical about things.
It would reach it's apotheosis in Vader, but we see that his belief that people will do the right thing despite their protestations is a longstanding one. (I think he and the Discworld's Carrot would get on famously)
And it keeps WORKING!
It begins with Han coming back to help the rebels with the Death Star, then we see it with the likes of Warba here who, despite everything, including admitting she's a con artist to him, comes through in the end because this aggravating twink put more trust and faith in her than SHE ever had and she CAN'T disappoint someone like that!
Even Doctor Aphram in another story has this reaction though, as she's press-ganged him (not for the first time) into one of her schemes, pushes him further than most do.
Doctor Aphra #9 by Keiron Gillen with art by Andrea Broccardo

That's as close to a severe cussing out as I think we ever get from Luke, but we see that it REALLY hits her hard whether she wants to admit it or not!

Hell, even 0-0-0, the galaxies most homicidal interrogation and torture droid can see it.
Clearly the puppy dog eyes of Luke Skywalker have hit their mark again...

TRIPLE-ZERO: I believe you misunderstood the idiomatic nature of his utterance. A more accurate translation would be "she obviously want to hit that."
