Clark seeing the pain underneath the monster and then reaching him. Yeah, that's definitive Superman trait. It just feels so right.

Ben says this like not " picking a team " is " I am a reasonable person, not easily swayed ", instead of " I've already picked a team, I'm just too much of a coward/idiot to articulate it. "

(Statistically speaking, there could be sincere people taking that line. But having looked through several self-acclaimed pundits' self-satisfied social media posts and comments, and the audiences that applaud them, that statistical probability's looking pretty low.)
