R.I.P. Gerry Conway

Gerry Conway has passed away. Among other things he wrote The Death of Gwen Stacy and created characters such as Jason Todd, Ben Reilly and the Punisher.

Yeah. He was definitely one of the greats of his era.

Man, this is sad. His name was all over Marvel and DC, and apparently he wrote for the Law & Order TV franchise.

Oh, that is sad news. He also created Power Girl, Firestorm, Killer Croc, Vixen, Killer Frost, Count Vertigo and the Detroit JLA newcomers like Vibe and Gypsy.

I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that a fair number of his Firestorm villains also showed up in Suicide Squad. They certainly had a wide range of interesting looks, powers and motivations.

Pretty sure that had to do with Ostrander writing Suicide Squad and Firestorm at the same time and thus having access to a whole slew of interesting yet expendable villains just when he needed fresh bodies for the team.
