Ah yes, brings me back to Farouks first comic appearance, where he had possessed Karma and made her super fat.

Shame they didn't keep that aspect of his character.

Farouk's first comic appearance was this issue. He didn't possess Karma until l around issue 30 of New Mutants.

I've always remembered it. And I recall at least one character saying that's why psychic battles look really boring on the physical plane: two guys stare at each other for a minute or two, sometimes one gets a nosebleed, and then...

This is what inspired that same scene in the X-men Animated Series? I always thought it was dorky because apparently you can deck yourself out in battle armor on the astral plane..

Also.. Shadow King's mortal form reminds me of the fat cenobite from Hellraiser...

I remember spending my allowance to buy this issue and becoming obsessed by the idea of astral forms doing battle. I couple of years later I wrote a series of stories called "Astra Warriors" that I shared with my classmates, cementing my geek status for years to come. Curse you claremont!
