Written by Judd Winick and based on his 2005 Batman comics story line, it's Batman versus another vigilante, Red Hood, who doesn't mind cleaning up Gotham by leaving dead bodies in his wake. Animated guru Bruce Timm exec produces this pretty violent look into crime on the streets, and it's directed by "Superman Doomsday" co-director Brandon Vietti, with a cavalcade of stars as voice talent. It all starts with Bruce Greenwood ("Star Trek") as Batman, then continues with "Supernatural" star Jensen Ackles as Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") as Nightwing, John DiMaggio ("Futurama") as the Joker and Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films) as Ra's Al Ghul.
This was one of the most popular story lines to come out of Batman in recent history.

I will not, unlike I'm sure most people here, make a joke about Bender being the Joker.

I will, however, say that Bruce Greenwood as Batman is excellent voice-casting.

I could actually picture JA playing a live-version of Jason. He's can play tortured anti-hero. As for the other voices, Issacs and Greenwood are great casting choices, NPH I'm kinda iffy on. I can hear his voice in my head and it sound like the Barry Allen one from the NF (the MusicMeister was over-the-top so doesn't count) but it doesn't sound like Dick should IMO. This will be a real chance for Doogie to show off his voice-acting range.

NPH as Nightwing? I love this choice and all, but he's already Barry & the Music Meister to me. I hope NPH puts a little spin on it to make Dick distinct.

I just noticed the Bat-Skull on Red Hood's shirt from the Morrison B&R scan (which takes place after Bruce's "death) looks almost exactly like the Bat-Skull on the Pirate flag from the PirateBatman! cover from Morrison's Return of Bruce Wayne? Accident? With Morrison I doubt it.

I like John DiMaggio but as the Joker? He's a little too gravelly-voiced for him, I think. And why not Mark Hamill? It's not as if he doesn't want to play the Joker anymore.

It's weird. I thought DC got a little nervous about the Red Hood becoming too popular when Winick was writing him, explaining the downshift in "Battle for the Cowl" and the new BATMAN & ROBIN series.

I wonder, though, why would a company get nervous about a character becoming popular?

Bottom line is more money for them, especially if they can bank in on it with mini-series, figurines, etc.

To be honest, whenever I read Dick's lines I always read it with a Scott Summers from X-Men Evolution voice in my head. I haven't heard NPH's voice outside of Music Meister so I'm taking everyone else's word for it to be good or bad.

NPH was a pretty good Barry Allen, but he is The Music Meister. I can see Dr.Drakken as the Joker. Had me at Bruce Timm. Don't know anyone else.

Heh, I do think that it's funny that Jason Isaacs is playing Ra's, if only because his character in Avatar: the Last Airbender looks so similar to the redesign they used in Paul Dini's Detective Comics run post-resurrection.
