This is from X-Force #25, by Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, and Clayton Crain.

For those who don't know, Wolverine's referencing how he gutted Rachel Summers to stop her from killing Selene. Yeah.

Date: 2010-04-01 03:46 am (UTC)The decks-clearing exercise at the end was a bit unexpected; that's about half the cast out (though all their reasons make sense, and I was particularly happy to see Logan saying that Laura's out from now on).

Date: 2010-04-01 04:24 am (UTC)I would be, too, if she wasn't active and killing with Logan's approval in X-men: Second Coming #1, which also came out today, but takes place after this event. *sigh*

Date: 2010-04-01 02:38 pm (UTC)Wolverine was the original anti-hero who kills. He just used to do it off-panel in the 1970s. He wasn't protecting Selene, he was protecting Rachel. Plus, you know...Selene has been killed before, iirc. She's one of those mystical Claremont villains who never really stays dead.

Date: 2010-04-01 06:59 pm (UTC)Wither and Eli Bard were using the tech organic virus (Phlanx) to ressurect people to help make Selene into some sort of goddess. The arc seemed to go on a bit long for me, so I've only half been following, plus I've never been a big X-fan, besides Cable stuff.
From my reading of the Eternals, they can certainly be killed. They just get new bodies in their secret arctic cave, which I'm not sure is currently operational.
