In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

To start with joyful news, it looks like the last of the schoolboys (and their coach) trapped by floodwater in a cave complex in Thailand have been rescued. A genuinely heroic story of dedication and co-ordinated planning aat every level. I feel we should also name and pay tribute to Petty Officer Saman Gunan, the Thai Navy Diver who died whilst helping set up the rescue equipment last week, but all in all, this is a story which could have been nothing but tragedy, but has been truly inspiring.

In London/England/Britain, they have been variously celebrating 100 years of the Royal Air Force, 70 years of the National Health Service, 46 years of the London Pride March, 28 years since England last reached the World Cup Semi-Finals, and almost 24 hours since Theresa May lost a Senior Cabinet Minster.

The London Pride Rally was slightly marred when members of Get The Le Out, a radical feminis anti-trangroup hijacked the front of the march (As one commentator put it; "London this weekend was either covered in red and white, for the football, or rainbows for Pride, it'as hard to tell if Football is coming home, or coming out!"

POTUS 45, twice the evil, half the IQ of the next best supervillain, produced a truly bizarre, speech (and yes, I know the bar is already set kind of high there) during a rally in Montana which sounds more like the sort of thing they warn you to keep a watch out for in "How to spot a stroke' PSA's.

The pereptual motion machine of ineffectual chaos which is Brexit managed to outdo even itself this week. Within days of a special, highly publicised meeting which was supposed to galvanise and unify the Government into actually having a plan (After two years and with nine months to go too), with everyone coming out smiling and confident, the Secretary for Brexit resigned in protest, along with one of the other senior taff, and then Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson resigned. On the plus side, with no BoJo around, our international stock probably went up a bit, but generally speaking it's all something of a shambles.

To cheer everyone up though, we have Trump visiting the UK on Friday 13th (no comment). Apparently he's avoiding London almost completely for fear of protesters, so he will be meeting our politicians (assumign we still have any by then) and the Queen at Windsor Castle. I'm torn between wanting her to just ignore him completely or go full Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey on him, in either circumstance because she's Queen, she's 92 and deserves better than THIS as her quite possibly final US President.

I could also mention the US threatening sanctions and withdrawl of military aid for countries (such as creible threats like.. umm.. Ecuador) which didn't go along with it's... unexpected stance against recommending breastfeeding at an international conferece in Geneva.

Honestly, historians are going to have a hell of a time trying to parse these few years in the decades to come...

You know I'm going to stop here before I depress myself further, so instead... have a nice day and be excellent to each other!
