In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.
Pro-Democracy protests in Hong Kong are causing concern in China, and there is concern that protesters might have handed a victory to Beijing as an excuse to clamp down, but all the same, between the protesters storming the building and the HUGE peaceful march, something is coming to a head there.
The G20 summit last week was memorable for Theresa May's handshake with Vladimir Putin (I do NOT like the woman or her policies, but I am in complete agreement with her facial expression there), and the US/China Trade talks being re-opened, though POTUS 45 backtracked on his previously vociferous ban on US dealings with Hauwei which it has been claimed would be a threat to national security.
US Border Patrol are being investigated for members running a secret Facebook group where it is claimed they shared racist and sexist comments about migrants.
Sportsball will see England vs the USA in the semi final of the Women's World Cup. (and the US women's team claim for pay parity with their vastly less successful male counterparts has progressed a little.)
Further sports news as 15 year old Cori Gauff beat her idol Venus Williams in straight sets during the first round of Wimbledon.
Been trying another couple of anime, I rather like the so far fairly low key "Midnight Occult Civil Servants" which is about the department of the the Japanese Government which has to deal with the magical creatures who live beside us, unseen by most. There's a mundanity to their approach to the weird which I like.
"Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" has a great title, and what seem to be the germs of a good few ideas, but I am constantly put off by the overt sexualisation of major character Hestia, who may be a goddess who is thousands of years old, but presents as a ten year old girl with a frankly disturbingly well-developed bust.
The CGI "Knights of the Zodiac" arrives on Netflix on 19th July. The theme will be "Pegasus Seiya", an English cover of the classic "Pegasus Fantasy" by British band "The Struts".
A UK terrestrial station has just started showing Dragonball Super Which, given it's the first time that ANY Dragonball anime has been shown on terrestrial channels in the UK, is a VERY odd place to start, IMHO.
